what money for what faulty drop test? AFAIK, the LCP has never been submitted for Roster testing.

The LCP does not have a magazine disconnect, so it can't be Rostered, so there is no need to have it drop tested for CA.

If your going to buy a .380 Auto, Ruger wouldnt be a great option to begin with. Sig, Walther and Beretta have a Greater and longer reputation for the .380

Those of us that have experience with pocket pistols often like pistols that actually fit in our pockets. The LCP is smaller and lighter than Sig, Walther and Beretta .380 pistols if I'm not mistaken.

My little LCP runs perfect, and it's one-hole accurate with hydra shoks out to 20 feet. I have no complaints. I don't want to part with it long enough to do the recall work, but I guess I better.

I LOVE my LCP. Bought a Seecamp 32 and the LCP at the same time and I have to say...the LCP is definitely winning between the two. I love to Seecamp too, but the LCP just seems special. Lighter than the 32 which makes a big difference and not nearly as picky with ammo.

Hey guys, Can I legally buy a "used" LCP from a family member visiting from out of state? Through an FFL of course.

Hopefully this isn't a thread highjack, but why pick .380 when both Kahr and Walther offer 9mm in almost the same form factor?

I'll tell you why in my case:

• A pocket pistol in .380 is much easier to control than a 9mm of similar size. I like to hit what I am trying to shoot, and repeat shots might be necessary.
• My expected use for a pocket pistol is likely a close-distance encounter, so I am less concerned about the comparatively weaker ballistics of the .380, especially with some of the better JHP rounds available.
• Since most .380 rounds have a shorter lethal/effective range than similar 9mm, I am less likely to have an errant shot kill an innocent.
• I am competent enough with my .380 that I believe I can "get the job done". Conversely, given the (undeserved IMHO) reputation of the .380 round, etc., it cannot be argued in court that I was trying to "kill someone with a military style weapon".
• Further down the list of reasons, a .380 pistol loaded with a similar number of rounds weighs less, enough that it makes a difference to me.

I have both an LCP and a Kahr PM9 and while the PM9 is great and I love it, it is much thicker than the LCP and the LCP is much easier to carry. That being said, it's splitting hairs a bit because the PM9 in its own right is easy to conceal (much easier than my XD9 Subcompact).

so just to check... im moving to cali and have a LCP. it is legal to bring in and register with state? whats the rule on that? does it apply only to this gun? or any gun that doesnt have successful drop test, if are moving into state, you can legally register it with the state... ? ...... help?

In California the LCP is available to LEOs. Some are PPT to non-leos,which is legal. That subject has been discussed here before,

Not on the approved list but, if you know anyone that wants to get rid of theirs you can private party transfer through a licensed FFL dealer. That is perfectly CA legal. Dumb laws.
