Did you hear a loud bang after the first two FTE's? If so then probably not a squib, if not then probably a squib. Double charged load?

**** your feelings! -
Mother of god, that XD 45 is done.
I would also agree with Bill Steele. I would see if the range would cover half of the cost.Comment

first .... I hope you are ok and no one got hurt
second ..... sounds like you had a squib that led to the kaboom.
what did the range say. did you show it to anyone when it happenedComment

Right-Im really Lucky I still have my Fingers and the Slide rail didn't come back at my Face...It just had a Strange Pop not like a normal round being fired and actually the range master stated that the range was responsible and I need to go back tomorrow and speak the the owner of the Range-So thats what I will be doingComment

Will be curious to see what the outside of the chamber and barrel and down the bore looks like when/if you get it disassembled.
Glad you are OK - sucks that happened.Comment

Hate to say it, but it's on you. The range can't control what you feed your gun, or how you run it. sounds like you had a .45 caliber traffic jam in your barrel, with a full power round striking a squib round stuck in the barrel. Gotta pay attention when something doesn't feel right.
On the other hand, nice to see the durability of the Springfield and that it protected you from injury. You can ask the range, but I doubt they'll take any responsibility. Do they also have an FFL? If so, inquire where they get their reloads.
What range were you at?Comment

A strange pop is a squib. Hopefully the range that sold you the reloads helps you out so the lesson isn't so expensive. If you ever fire a round and it doesn't sound right like that, make sure you inspect the barrel to make sure there isn't a bullet stuck in the barrel.

^This.
So the shell extracts... and you rack the pistol a couple times to "make sure all was clear".... what exactly did you think the racking cleared???
And this happened twice before the kaboom?
Sorry sounds like you had all the indications needed and chances to know better then pull the trigger a 3rd time.
If you have a small pop and a failure to extract... time to disassemble and check the barrel not rack 3 times and shoot away.
From the photos it looks like the rifling is jacked (or leaded?).. probably from the 3rd round expelling the 2 other rounds... unless they are still in there. And the reason you probably can't take the slide off besides the frame rails being jacked up is that the barrel is bulged.
IMO its your fault. And I doubt they will work with you as theres no proof that it was their ammo since apparently you purchased it on a separate date.Comment
