I now feel like I need one in .40. No clue why. Any shops down here in Orange County area carry these things?

I have been eyeballing these recently, Solar Tactical has several in stock right now... pretty tempting!

I normally would recommend the majority of the larger caliber Ruger revolvers.

but seeing this Rhino makes me think Ruger has been "outbeefed"

                    by a long shot..

Total out the door was $1,100. I figure DROS of $25, tax of $75 (at 7.5%). That would place the original cost at $1,000. Since their site places them at $1,180, I figure I'm already getting something of a discount.

Definitely go there. Since they work on commission, make sure to stick with the same guy.
Kappy - Thanks for the info about commission, I didn't know that.
The White Rhino 60DS I wanted wasn't in stock anymore when I got there, the guy I was working with said a 50DS was available but while I was thinking it over it went out of stock also.
Their website shows their distributor's stock not the store stock - so if I see it available in the future I can pay for it online - works for me as I'm only a week into my 30 day from my LCR 9mm purchase.
Since the Rhinos are basically special order, they require full price upfront, there are no SAE fees as you stated.
Nice shop, picked up a Diamondhead handguard for my 9mm AR project, so not a wasted trip

Oh... if we're just going to jump out of the realm of .357, let's go all the way.

Glad you got out there. They're worth a visit, just to see a decent store with decent employees.

                          A few things I noticed:
                          1. No one told me what I wanted.
                          2. No one told me what I didn't want.
                          3. No one tried to sound like the knew crap they didn't know.
                          4. No one tried to sound like a badass.
                          5. No one tried to sound smarter than me just to put me in my place.

All five are a rarity in a gun store. Contrast that with...

A place I went to for an AR upper. I selected one, and the clerk immediately told me that I didn't want it because it wasn't a chrome-lined barrel... because I plan to shoot so much full auto?

A place I visited to look for a new handgun. I told the guy behind the counter that I didn't want a Glock because my wife only wanted handguns that had manual safeties... whereupon the clerk told me that if his wife told him something like that, he'd DIVORCE her.

A place I visited to buy my first firearm. The clerk, open carrying, without any kind of provocation, decided to spout off for five minutes about how he can carry a gun in the store but won't let anyone else do it because he was a Navy Seal and was the only one trustworthy to carry. I later heard the same guy tell someone else that he'd been a Ranger. Other folks told me that he'd claimed to be a Marine.

A place I visited to buy a magazine for an AR. The clerk showed me a PMag. He proceeds to show me how a 10 round PMag can be easily converted into a 20 round by disassembling it and snapping a part inside. He then tries to sell me the broken and illegal PMag.

I get decent service when I buy guns at non-gun stores like Sutter Orchard Supply or Union Lumber... and sometimes get decent service when it's a place manned only by the owner... but a real gun shop with employees who aren't total idiots? That's a rara avis in this neck of the woods.

Plus... put in the right context, the Rhino can look even more... beefy.

I was using wrong terminology. They convert it to single action only. Apparently that goes away this year.
