I am in a bit of a dilema on which caliber i should focus on for my third roster carry CCW. I currently have a Glock 42, XD40 4", and was considering adding a kimber ultra carry 3 or 4" in 45acp. I know this is not an ideal CCW, however here is my problem i aquired many rounds of .45 when i inherited my uncles reloading gear and i want to buy a 45 to shoot the reloads. I can buy a target geared .45 however i would like to buy one that suites more purpose than the range everyonce in awhile, thoughts? should i focus on a smaller caliber purchase or charge forward?

In my dreams when I have a pistol in my hand its a 1911, and I haven't carried one in years. Its a cold winter here so I carry a Glock 19 right now.Comment

Glock 36 would stick with your current manual of arms, make it easier. I know you want a 45, also I am ignorant if the size of a glock 42. I was going to point out everybody needs a pocket gun on their ccw. A gun for when you're not carrying a gun.Buying a safe and sane firework is like paying a hooker for a hug. I do not see the appeal in it.Comment

If it were me I'd buy a smaller pistol. Kahr mk9, cw9, lcp/lc9 or even a lcr or s&w j frame. The guns you currently have are good but I think you'll find at times you want something more discreet. Then to shoot your .45 ammo a springfield loaded would work great and be more of a pleasure to shoot.Originally posted by ar15barrelsSo you are throwing out 95% of reality to select the 5% of reality where you are actually right?

Do you plan to use the re-loads for carry or just for practice?"If he won't walk, walk him...be nice"

Depends on your body type. Bigger guys can conceal bigger guns. Xds .45 would be a good ccw in .45 acp. Thanks, and as we say in Spanish,

Why a VP9 of course
(Someone had to be the first to say it)

I carry a Kimber Pro Carry II quite often....the full grip size and Commander length slide means it is a pleasure to shoot, and the aluminum alloy frame means it is lighter than an all-steel 1911. I enjoy mine.Comment

Consider that you might want to put a gun or two on that you wouldn't necessarily conceal on your person, but might keep unsecured in your car or thrown into a backpack. Not every CCW gun needs to be carried on your person, and you wouldn't want to run afoul of the law for not securing a gun not on your permit.Ian Lindsay

IMO, CCO style,
Any double stack pistol is huge to conceal on me, so I dropped my XD40 off my CCW

And there's always the "revolver". Like a Ruger Sp101 snub nose. Not very big and has a little weight for recoil. Then their are the airweights.
Ten you could also buy a revolver and a .45! Start your collection. This year will go down in history.... Don't want to offend anybodyComment
