    Gen3 vs Gen4

I was glancing at the classifieds for lack of anything better to do and started looking at Glocks because I'm masochistic.

There's about $200 difference between the Gen3 and Gen4 versions of the G23's I looked at.

Is it worth the difference in price, or is most of the difference the SSE "surcharge"? Gen4 you get the extra magazine, plus other changes indicated in the link below.

Is interchangeable back straps and a larger mag release worth it to you?

Personally, I prefer the gen 3. I like the grip texture and smaller mag release and the flatter slide finish better.

It's a Honda, you can fix it up on any generations.

                I'd pay extra for a Gen3 over a Gen4.

For a G23, there will be a small difference in recoil with the 2 stage spring. I have a Gen2 and Gen4. I like the medium beavertails. I like the fatter mag release. I like the extra mag. I like the Gen4 ergos. I'd definitely pay $100 for a Gen4... $200 is pushing it.

Only way you'll know for sure is to shoot them back to back. I am a fan of the gen 4, I like the minor up grades. But I do not dislike the gen 3's, they are still great guns.

My small hands hated glocks, then gen4 caught me off guard, wasn't even thinking about getting one and then had a back and forth if I wanted m&p pro or g35.
And SSE doesn't exist anymore so the "surcharge" on the calguns forum for gen4 seems to be $400 and an unpleasant fist in the rear

Not all Calgunners are over charging, I just bought a gen4 G21, used but unfired from a member for $665.00. It was an OD model, that I had been looking for. New black Gen 4 21s are right around $585 outside of CA. I paid an additional $80 to get the exact gun I wanted, so to me worth it and I made most of the $80 back not having to pay tax.
So keep looking, fair deals are out there.
