Not if you are towing a trailer. If you are towing a trailer you cannot be in the left two lanes if there are four or more lanes on the road.

With a trailer, you can only drive in the right two lanes on a four lane, in the same direction, highway. He said he went into the #2 lane, which is the lane to the right of the fast lane. The only time you can do something like that is if there is a sign that designate the lane as a "TRUCKS" lane, and it usually only at a merge. From what the OP said, he was in the #3 lane on a four lane freeway (lane to the left of the slow lane), and moved into the #2 lane. That is a no no. I tow a boat a lot and I know not to go into the two left lanes.

Now, if he was at a merge, and it was a five lane freeway, he could be in the right three lanes, but he stated that he was in the #2 lane.

I didn't really want this to be about what led up to the stop as there are more details I did not include, was more about the non-incident of the officer's response to my permit.

But to answer a few questions, the ambulance was not rolling code, just merging at freeway speed. It caught my eye because it locked up the brakes due to a short merge and lots of semi's blocking the way. I moved over one at that time but kept my speed, and then the semi started coming over into my lane. There was no traffic in #2 (of 4) so I popped in just to go around the semi which is what got me pulled over. I was in the far right lane the entire trip, just this one series of events landed me too far over.

Lesson learned: use the brakes instead of the throttle May fight it, we will see.

Yes, some counties mandate that you inform upon contact with LEO. Sacramento is one such county.

The only problem you might encounter are the Bay Area folks. I've been told by friends that they really give CCW holders a hard time.

Dates/times/agencies/names/circumstances? Otherwise, these are simply more apocryphal anecdotes for the already massive collection of such tales. Like the SFPD confiscation under threat of arrest story--never happened.
