Has anyone actually picked one up recently? I'm curious if they finally switched to the ID card permit rather than the gigantic piece of laminated paper. They were supposed to switch to the ID card style beginning of 2020, but it was delayed. Hopefully they have implemented that now.Comment

Well, you'll likely get one when you renew or make a change to your permit. That's why they have started asking for a passport photo. They just started asking for the photo and laminating the paper permit at the end of last year I think.Comment

When I got my approval last week, she said to go get my passport photos for pick up. Still not open for pick up though or I would have mine.Comment

Permit approved and final payment made just now. Letter said they are not currently scheduling pickup for the permit pending a lift on the Shelter in place. Email says they will call to make a final appointment for pickup.
Ill keep you all posted whenever they call to make that appointment.Comment

Movement......?!
Well, my status went from 'assigned to processor soon' to 'assigned to processor-processing order.' Hopefully that means that things will start moving along and hopefully in-person transactions will begin in the more near future.
I do have a question for those on here who have gotten their permits. Do any of you carry specific insurance because of it? I've gotten a lot of ads from USCCA and various other types of organizations that offer different levels of legal protections, lawyer networks, etc. Was wondering what everyone's thoughts were on that and if anyone carries it and what group they went through (if they'd be willing to share).Comment

It would be a great idea to carry insurance in case you ever NEED to use your weapon. The rates are fairly low and coverage is pretty good to ease the mind of being unrepresented or needing to sell everything you have to defend yourself. USCCA seems to have the best coverage and still a low price.

As for insurance, I havnt signed up yet, but I did a ton of research on the topic and will likely get my coverage from USCCA. I think they have the best all around coverage for self defense, and they don't restrict the coverage for firearms, it can be any form of self defense. I figure if I am going to be carrying, I would sleep better knowing I have legal defense and council should the need ever arise. Hopefully, I never need it, but I would sleep better knowing I wont go bankrupt if I do.Comment

I think that insurance is a great idea, for all aspects of life.
If one had an umbrella policy that specifically also would provide for an attorney if they were in a self defense shooting situation, that would be a bonus.
I don't know the first thing about insurance for that purpose though, so I'm not the one to ask...but insurance is always good when it's on your side.Comment

I just got approval and made the final payment. Called in and spoke to a very nice lady who informed me Alicia would be in tomorrow and to call back then to arrange for everything. Dec. 30 - June 16. I've lived in Sonoma County since the summer of '72 and I never thought I'd see the day we would be issued CCW's.Comment

Congrats! Hopefully this will slowly open the gates for the rest of us to filter through and get those permits!Comment
