the sheriff is going to retire end of this month so more than likely the new sheriff will probably look at my targets wonder if he'll do anything new??

I just turned my targets in today since I had jury duty next door.

but im going to purchase another gun, i know i have to qualify again for new gun,

Woohoo! My permit is ready for pick up! Took 7 months from my application turn-in date although, to be fair, some of the delay was on my part. Took me awhile to get the class done.

Also, I've heard from some deputies that the new sheriff is expected to be much like the old sheriff in terms of approving CCW's. Anyone else heard anything?

Catharine just called me. I'm picking up on Thursday! here's the timeline:

6/13/12 - turned in app
7/6/12 - On to Livescan
7/29/12 - went ahead to training without being told to proceed
7/31/12 - Livescan, targets and training certification turned in.
10/30/12 - Call to pickup permit.
11/1/12 - picked up permit!

Whoohoo! This warrants a trip to Walmart for some nachos!

You would need to qualify again. That's why I like Dave. He said, you can just call him, arrange a time to meet at Centermass and he will certify you without a fee.

thanks, Gant. Yeah, Catharine actually suggested to take the training, if you have nothing to worry about in the background. The problem with the Livescan phase and the background is not the Livescan, but the background. The various agencies that need to be contacted to report and comb (I don't know why this is not all computerized) through their files to make sure you are of "good moral character" or in other words, no outstanding warrants, disqualifying misdemeanors, felonies, etc. This takes forever since someone in the agencies need to do the foot work of looking through boxes of files to find your name. Depending on how migrant you are, this could mean waiting back from all the concerted effort of these agencies to finalize.

CONGRATS to all! Glad to observe that LTC policy hasn't changed in Solano County, in fact it seems to have sped up lately.
