Because this was a civil indictment, and not criminal, the only punishment she could receive would be removal from office... Unfortunately, she won't get booked into her own Jail.

Good. Although I’m not holding my breath that she will suffer any consequences.

Santa Clara County civil grand jury makes formal corruption accusations against sheriff
Jurors investigated questions over Sheriff Laurie Smith’s concealed-gun permit practices and jail mismanagement raised by the board of supervisors; jury has unique authority to initiate the forced removal of an elected official

In an official declaration filed in Superior Court on Tuesday, the civil grand jury accused Smith of seven corruption-related acts, six of them involving ongoing indictments alleging political favoritism and favor trading by leveraging her issuance of concealed-carry weapons permits. The seventh accuses Smith of failing to cooperate with the county law-enforcement auditor in its investigation into negligence allegations from a 2018 jail inmate injury case that led to a $10 million county settlement.

There have been several cases of rideshare drivers and many cases of food delivery drivers using CCWs to save their lives. If you do that work and live in a Light Red or Yellow county you may want to print out news articles about such attacks (ones with and without CCWing drivers), to prove elevated GC.

Does the sheriff host livestreamed virtual town halls (Facebook, Instagram)? If so, any news re CCWs?

You activists need to prepare a well written question to ask the sheriff what will they do if SCOTUS says in the NYSRPA case that SD = GC? Will they quickly change to accept that? If yes, are they preparing now for a massive flood of applicants starting this spring or summer?

You Santa Clara Co people need to attend you county NRA Members Council, contact the CRPA, GOC/GOA, etc to ensure a pro CCW candidate is elected sheriff on June 7th.

Scathing editorial in the SJ Mercury News today:

Interesting yet brief read. I was not aware that the board of supervisors vote of no confidence had been unanimous. There's also a tidbit of testimony against Smith by a member of her dept.

Again earlier this week I saw posts by Jensen but was unable to read them for lack of time. Someone in Santa Clara should be doing that work, just monitoring for any discussion of CCWs. Even a HS student could do it,

Kevin Jensen was pro CCW. But local people need to find that out and then financially support, volunteer for and vote for the most pro CCW viable candidate.
