The section of law you all are referring to is PC 26190(f)

    (1) If psychological testing on the initial application is required by the licensing authority, the license applicant shall be referred to a licensed psychologist used by the licensing authority for the psychological testing of its own employees. The applicant may be charged for the actual cost of the testing in an amount not to exceed one hundred fifty dollars ($150).

    (2) Additional psychological testing of an applicant seeking license renewal shall be required only if there is compelling evidence to indicate that a test is necessary. The cost to the applicant for this additional testing shall not exceed one hundred fifty dollars ($150).
Remains to be seen if SCC will exercise this option. I obviously hope not. There are only a few IA's that bother with the psych eval and its a massive waste of time and money.

Seems a fair rate to me. I don't know, but a decent shrink for an hour- isn't that more like >$250? I really don't know.

A friend of mine reached out to Sunnyvale DPS to ask about their process. If he has any info next time I talk to him, I'll share it here.

Looks like the DOJ changed what you would expect: No more mention of good cause being a requirement.

Like @CalConservative I applied years ago (prob around 2014, but can't recall). I fully expect that application went into the circular file. I also expect any recent applications to get tossed when they are finally forced to implement their "new process" what ever and when ever that is.

I'd say the only real purpose to applying via the current process is to keep the pressure up on them. A worthy purpose.....just realize it is highly unlikely to get you a CCW....but it may get you standing in the lawsuit that finally gets CCW's for normal people in SCC.

That's a good point. I bet their will be a system "failure" and they'll ask everyone to re submit applications. This state is so corrupt, making the citizens wait months/ years to be "granted" the right to carry a firearm. I doubt any of these Bay Area counties will start to quickly process applications until the beginning of next year.

Still debating if it’s worth applying now or until they “implement” an online system. I’d bet they just tell people to apply again if they ever actually get an online app going.

They maybe were waiting to see if SB-918 passed so they could do applications based off that, and now that it failed realize they actually have to start doing something with the apps

It's not like I'm asking the same question over and over and they keep answering.

It's a black hole. No information is coming out. So while I'm not expecting Amazon-like customer service I don't think it's too much for these people to have an estimated time for me to expect to hear ANYTHING back regarding my application.

If they would even put something on their website like "Applications are taking approximately 3 months to process" that would be something.

The website and their from desk send every question to the Sgt. I'm just following their directions.
Amazon service disappeared a couple years ago- but it doesn't keep them from raising Prime rates.

Have patience. Once you know they have your application there's nothing you can do that will speed up the processing time. One of the best indicators you'll get of timelines is to read threads like this to see where people are in the process that applied before you did and extrapolate from there.

Not so easy to just pick up and move for some of us. Would be better (though idealistic) if the darn gov't just did what it's supposed to do.
