Correct. Just my opinion of course but your failure to disclose scraping your car against a pole in a garage is most likely not something for you to worry about. Contacting them via phone or email is next to impossible so your only option is really to drive there and tell them of the error in person. If it were me, I would not worry about it.

I have emailed the CCW department's listed email with this information and will update when (or if) I receive a response.

I disclosed two other accidents on my app, so I hope that this will be summarily added to my application, but I am not entirely sure. Anyone think I should also go ahead and call them to make sure?

Good luck getting ahold of anyone. I?ve emailed a dozen times. No response. I?ve called probably 50-60 times. No answer and the voicemail is always full. Report back if you?re able to get ahold of anyone! Good luck!

Of general interest to everyone, I'm sure....

Many more gun owners are seeking California concealed carry permits as Democratic leaders try again to limit where weapons are allowed.

    Such a hot mess.

I had my interview this morning. Officer (captain) was really nice. Just some basic questions. Got there 15 min early and went back for interview after 5 minutes and took around 15 minutes total.

After that, training will be completed within 90 days after they tell you to go train - apparently so it will be fresh on your mind. I worry full classes and not being able to time your appointments will cause huge issues with the huge infux of applicants. What if everything is booked out 90 days?

Realistically, after your interview it may still be 4-6 months at least until you get your ccw.

On a side note - SJPDs process has also halted. Finished interview and livescan. Ghosted for 3 weeks. And now told to wait an unknown amount of time. Unsure if they can use my psyche results for SCC. Very frustrating process on both sides.
Have you completed the psych eval for SCC yet?

I had my interview Thu 4/13 AM with a non-sworn staffer. Same deal as others have reported, they have a checklist of basically walking through your entire application and asking some basic questions along the way. Took 15-20 minutes in total.

If you have any non-resident CCW permits from out of state, bring them along since he asked to view them in-person. Otherwise, no other documents were needed other than your DL or ID to prove you are who you say you are for the interview.

The staffer said due to the sudden influx of interviews in this new clinic format, they anticipate the backlog will stretch the psych evals out close to 4-6 weeks from here. It was previously more like a 2-week window.

As folks have also pointed out, this is a completely step-wise process, don't do anything until you are done with psych (no LiveScan, no training, etc.).

Overall, the staffer was very enthusiastic to be doing this, and I told him that I understand that all our collective frustration should be directed upwards in the leadership chain (and ultimately at every voter here in SCC that maintain our status quo).

Until the next bureaucratic hurdle.... onwards.

Had my interview today. Administrative side of things was simple - only documents needed were ID and proof of residency (even though residency docs were submitted online).

My interviewer was an officer who was not part of the CCW Unit. I am not sure if this was the reason, but a few of the questions I was asked seemed more broad than the questions I've seen mentioned by other applicants on here; they were not directly from the application, but somewhat re-worded, as well as a few other questions that weren't asked on the application (e.g. have the police ever come to your house, do you ever intend to apply for a CCW in another state, last altercation with another driver, last physical altercation, etc.)

For a few questions, no timeframe was given, so I truthfully answered with some possible examples from over 10 years ago. While the interviewer seemed to be more interested in more recent incidents (which there were none of), no explicit time bound was given.

Additionally, in the interest of being forthcoming, for a few of the questions I gave answers that the interviewer said did not count towards what was asked.

For example, for the question about moving violations, the original application only asked about incidents in the last five years. The question in the interview did not have a time bound given, so I gave an example of a traffic stop from 7 years ago and was told that it didn't count, but I am not sure if that answer still goes on the app.

Just wanted to provide another perspective for everyone. I know I probably should have said less and am overthinking this situation but I didn't want to omit anything, and thought another data point about the interview process might come in handy on here.

Huge kudos to Santa Clara County Sheriff

I went in this am for my interview. Due to the blocked street bc of the busted train overhead wire, I parked at the court parking lot where I park for jury duty.

I was very impressed with the professionalism and enthusiasm of the SC Sheriff Dept team. I arrived early and didn't wait long for my turn. The captain interviewing me was very friendly and engaging. We did the interview in record time and I was off and on my way.

He told me they basically took staff away from their regular work and created this block of time to get the CCW work done. I appreciate them dedicating serious worktime to attacking the CCW backlog. Whomever is responsible for this change in tempo and mood, I give them huge credit. Being in a mostly anti 2A county, I appreciate these guys/gals quietly doing the right thing. It probably starts at the top, but I know the Sheriff has to lay low and not draw too much attention. Thank you Sheriff and HQ staff for supporting us law abiding citizens.
