And then it might get "lost in the mail."

Well, they have you review over the details from your application, take a nice photo of you that will be on your permit for 2 years, do the final paperwork, have you sign a few forms that is for both CADOJ and Sheriff?s records. Then the deputy asks you if you have any questions or so to ask before you leave with your new permit.

At least we didn?t have to drive to a location for psych eval, including the interview.. Imagine the trouble and hurdle just to do that.

Also mailing it? They?d likely take their time to send it out instead! (Probably the same amount of time of 2-4 weeks for just waiting to schedule a pickup)

I was in a similar situation where someone uploaded their training info after me (by two weeks maybe) received the call and email to make final payment ahead of me. The process order seems loosely in order but also random at the same time.

Congrats for finally picking up the permit!

My interview was at 9:35am on the same day, just 5 minutes apart from yours. Probably we ran into each other at the lobby. My LiveScan completion was on 5/18. My pysch eval was also in May. Despite multiple emails to SCSO to check the status, to this day I still don?t have the go ahead signal for training. I can?t believe there is such a drastic difference in the outcome.
I have zero criminal history in my life so I really can?t think of a reason what is holding up the application. Since more than 90 days has passed from the LiveScan completion, I wonder if this is another way of saying my application is not approved.

I went with Saber Tactics. They are awesome. Having the ability to do the classroom online at my own pace is worth every cent.

I was not worried livescan would come back with bad things so I was willing to gamble the $118 fee. I think I shaved off some wait time by just doing the livescan without being prompted but who knows.

Also, I noticed you just did the LiveScan without being prompted by them?

Any risk in doing that? Should I/we just go ahead and do it after our initial interview?

Who did you do your training with? I didn't realize some offered it online, that's awesome!

Feel free to DM me if you prefer.

I just picked up my permit. Got the call about an hour ago and I immediately went down there.

Found out some interesting things from Daniel Llegas (spelling might be wrong for his last name)

Daniel called me for the pickup. He didn't have a title so I am not sure he is sworn. I noticed he was typing in all my information into Permitium. He told me they haven't any way to connect their system to theirs and they cannot import data (I find that difficult to accept) He said Permitium was sold as one thing but in reality, it was another. He said since it had been accepted as the defacto system country wide, all departments are in the same boat and features that were sold are now promised in future updates. Daniel also told me I was sort of a guinea pig. Seems the CCW division was kicked out of the offices they were occupying and put into the room next door. They had the camera on a shelf and I stood 8 feet away against the wall for the picture. Daniel also told me that the current rule of carrying the DOJ issued tiny piece of paper along with the SCC issued card may not be a thing in the future and only the card will be required when carrying. The whole process is clearly not well thought out and a total fuster cluck. I feel really bad for the folks after those of us in the 4/12 batch for what they have to endure.

LEPS serves law enforcement, paramedics, fire, etc as their primary client base - we are a small drop in the bucket for them, given how few counties (if any else) require psych evals for CCW?s

500+ Applicants waiting. I don't know how that correlates to timelines here as it is not clear the volume of their normal workload. It seems to be implied here that 500+ is a lot. Their website indicates that the local office (and presumably their satellite office in Oakland) services the north bay down to the central coast. Given that, Santa Clara county applicants probably make up only a small fraction of that number. So, I take this as only a small indication of progress.

I was told my name would be sent to LEPS early last week. I have a pending email asking for a status of my application (e.g., if they received it and if they could send a scheduling email). Given the email provided by another above I suspect they may be holding off on sending scheduling emails to more applicants as they don't seem to have slots available for the ones they already have.
