Are you able to add another firearm to the CCW application during the process of waiting to go through all the steps? I am looking to buy another one for carry and am wondering if I should wait to get it before applying. Ideally I'd like to apply earlier so I can get the ball rolling

    A couple comments...

    First:
If you completed/do your livescan you should be able to use your ATI number (bottom of the form and filled out by the processor) to check the status via this website.

I suggest keeping a copy of the completed paperwork as that has the ATI number.

    Second:
I checked my livescan docs at the above website which indicated that the CA and FBI portions were completed the same day I did the livescan (I did it early in the morning at a postal annex+). Firearms portion was completed two days later.

    Third:
During my psychological evaluation, the interviewer indicated that they would send the approval that day internally and then staff would send it to the SCCSO. They also indicated that staff was pretty much caught up in that regard and gave me the impression that is would be sent over most likely the next day. I suspect that any delay in receipt/acknowledgement/processing is currently at the Sherif's Office.

    Fourth:
One other thing I forgot to add in an earlier post, when i did the group test portion of the psychological evaluation a couple weeks ago there were some open slots (at least three). For that reasons I suspect that the group portion is not the hold up - this makes sense as the group portion only requires one test proctor for 20 people. They may be slow rolling the group sessions because then have limited resources to do the one-on-one portion.

    Fifth:
For both psychological interviews you will need a working internet connection, a computer (not a tablet or phone), a microphone, and a webcam (you cannot call in separately on your phone for the mic or the webcam, it must be connected to your computer) that all work. There were multiple people that were not prepared and did not pretest their equipment, and if I remember correctly one of the attendees could not complete the tests because of equipment issues. These technical difficulties burned about 30 minutes of everyone's time. If you don't have these things you will need to go get them and please test them in advance as a courtesy to your fellow 2A community members.

    Finally:
As I am back to waiting on the SCCSO I will resume by weekly emails requesting a status update until I get information on whether I have been approved for the next step.

I finished psych interview on Sep 14th but haven't received live scan email. Anyone else waited more than 3 weeks after psych interview too?

Does anyone have any idea on how long it takes for the SCCSO to get back to you to indicate it is time for a livescan?

I did mine in the second half of September. I intend to respond by indicating that it was already completed and providing the tracking number for it.
For me, Sept 13th I did the psych interview, Sept 21st I got the email to proceed with the livescan. So roughly 1-2 weeks I'm guessing, if you're confident that you passed the psych eval, you can do the livescan now to save some time (it takes a week or two to clear the firearms portion of the livescan anyways)

In the email it says to upload the completed training to Permitium... but my Permitium account looks like it hasnt been updated since I first applied. It still says I have an appointment on April, 2023 and doesnt have a Completion Date.

The order track status is still on a yellow 'order pending...'

Was the case with everyone that got their permit? If I complete and upload, how will they know it's completed?
Congrats! Don?t worry, Permitium won?t show any update until your permit is approved and pending pickup. When you complete training, upload the training certificate and the ?CCW Firearms Proficiency? form to Permitium. I would also suggest sending an email to SHF.SOCCW@shf.sccgov.org saying that you completed training and have uploaded the required documents to Permitum and are ready to complete final payment. Sending this email seemed to have sped things up for me, and for another member here. Good luck on the rest of the process!

Give or take a few days to weeks, based on how long it took for me. The bottleneck according to the deputy is LEPs/Your Psych Evaluator sending in the results. Some of I recall wanted applicants to sign a waiver for them to release their results to the sheriffs.. Mine submitted mine directly and got approval to proceed a few days later.

It was fine. They asked about the standard stuff that generally fall under the categories of: drug use, therapy, domestic violence, road rage, past physical altercations, criminal history, and reason for getting a permit.

It took less than 30 minutes.

Thanks for clearing that up! I will go ahead and purchase the training, and complete the online portion. Then schedule the in-person date after I get the authorization email from SCC (Hopefully soon)

I can also confirm that the city of Sunnyvale is now issuing CCWs, and Lt. Gorshe is quite responsive in keeping applicants informed about the process. I expect the speed of the process will only get faster now that a small number have gone through it, especially after they have the same Permitium online application live. Compared to Santa Clara County, the Sunnyvale process looks to be cheaper, faster, and responsive though Sunnyvale has the additional requirement of 3 letters of reference and having your neighbors potentially interviewed (note the neighbor interview is informal and he is quite discreet about the reason).

I was planning to go with Saber tactics, and they explicitly say you can't schedule classes without having approval. But has anyone scheduled it before getting the approval? I honestly don't mind paying the course fee with the slim chance that something can still go wrong during the application process and get denied.

What are you doing with your pending Santa Clara County CCW application now that you picked up Sunnyvale? Does it just keep moving forward, or are you pulling it?
I have to contact Santa Clara to say skip it - and "thanks for all the fish"
