This is really awesome to hear! Congrats again (and to both)!

What are you doing with your pending Santa Clara County CCW application now that you picked up Sunnyvale? Does it just keep moving forward, or are you pulling it?

Considering they started from nothing, they've done as well as any other IA in the Bay Area.

Biggest improvement they could make would be to drop the psych eval, it seemed pretty worthless to me, but given Sunnyvale isn't the most pro-2A city in the world, it's perhaps a necessary evil to begin with.
    Congrats to you too!

Just picked up my CCW from Sunnyvale DPS. Lieutenant Gorshe assures me I was the first person issued .

I applied in August '22 soon after Bruen. Nothing happened for a while until ~March, when I got my application mailed back to me and a letter saying to apply again with their new paper process. Progress has been slow but consistent since then.

They required 3 character reference letters, which they said they usually wouldn't need to contact unless something came up. Addresses or phone numbers not required in the letter, as long as either there was some form of contact or if I could provide one if requested. They also let me know they'd interview neighbors, but I'm not sure if that ever happened.

They say they're moving to Permitium soon so hopefully^tm the process will be faster for new applicants. Everyone I've worked with has been very professional, and Lieutenant Gorshe who is leading the process on their end is extremely quick to reply to emails and kept me updated.

I have no criminal record. Only thing I reported was medication for ADHD and transgender stuff on the psych interview. The interviewer only seemed to check that my work with a psychiatrist was just to diagnose me and then refill medications, as opposed to continuing/recurring general therapy.

They did give out the annoying full-sheets-of-paper license and standard restrictions pages in addition to a wallet-sized laminated card. I'm supposed to carry everything, which is inconvenient and I don't want to fold the full-sized papers.

I was planning to go with Saber tactics, and they explicitly say you can't schedule classes without having approval. But has anyone scheduled it before getting the approval? I honestly don't mind paying the course fee with the slim chance that something can still go wrong during the application process and get denied.
Saber does not want you registering without approval to train

    Thank you!
Process is somewhat comparable. AFAIK Sunnyvale still do not have an officially published description of their policy or process.
They mentioned they will be moving to permitium in future, but at present it is all manual - but they are dealing with maybe a dozen applications vs 1000? for Santa Clara.

I only applied to Sunnyvale because someone here posted a link to a draft ccw policy late last year. I applied to both Sunnyvale and Santa Clara in October
2022. I got a call from Sunnyvale literally the next day, telling me that they were not yet ready to start processing, but would be very soon. My biggest concern was their plan to reach out to neighbors he assured me that there would be no mention of guns or what it was about.
Still not a big fan but as it turned out wasn't a big deal - appart from introducing a delay while they waited for anyone to respond/complain.

In early March heard they were ready and to please re-apply with 3 letters of reference - ick

I also eventually got notified by Santa Clara to re-apply via permitium.
I got that notification twice, so the original application did not go into the trash!

2023-03-28 Re-applied to both Sunnyvale and Santa Clara
Permitium gave me an interview appointment in September.

    2023-04-12 fingerprinting done by Sunnyvale

The lady was very nice - the machine had trouble getting good read, hate to think how it goes with an uncooperative person

2023-04-27 initial interveriew to go over application
I mentioned that I'd already done a CCW class late last year (pre-requisit for CCW instructor class ;-) was told that would probably be good though they had not yet settled on how many hrs they needed - but would likely be 16 hrs. He also mentioned they were trying to meet the 90 deadline.

2023-07-07 I pinged to say DOJ had not yet cashed their check
got a call back same day that all was good, and that afternoon I got mail from LEPS to schedule pysch testing.

2023-07-19 was the test date, which was nearly a disaster due to incomplete pre-test paperwork. Sunnyvale was not yet integrated into their system, so I had to fill in a pdf etc.
I sent it several times but they kept telling me there was a signature missing - eventually I sent a screenshot showing my signature on the page and they accepted that.

    2023-07-24 psych interview

a couple of weeks later I pinged Sunnyvale - they had still not received report from LEPS - it would eventually take 2 months!

2023-08-21 heard from Sunnyvale, they still had not received the report from LEPS but both parties were aware there was a problem and working on it. He said he would proceed as if all was good. Confirmed my previous training was ok so long as less than a year ago and 16 hours.

    2023-09-08 did qualification shoot

2023-09-19 heard from Sunnyvale - they finally got report from LEPS and would be issuing a permit very soon - just teething problems with lamination process to work out.

2023-09-29 all good made appointment to pick up.

As I said earlier there were some annoying delays some just teething issues with a new process, but everyone I have dealt with at Sunnyvale was very nice, professional and keen to get the process going so no complaints.
