So to my understanding from them you still fill out all the singatures and the section 6, 7, and 8 even though the initial page says not too ?? can someone please chime in for verification. Do these need to be signed in front of a witness there and do we fill out page 7 the interview page?
    Thanks guys

      Total of 15 rounds fired.

Target is a standard B27 silhouette and 80% of your rounds must be in the 8 ring.

Sheriff's RO requires you to wear SBA which they provide. They also require you to draw from a holster (no pocket carry, no 'draw clips', etc) and they have a caliber floor of .380 - nothing smaller than that.

As I was quoted above, they do have a caliber floor of .380 - other than that, I've seen pretty much everything on the range during qualification, revolvers, semis, and even a couple single-action revolvers.

The RO/FTO will do a safety check and I have seen weapons disqualified for extra light triggers - last time was a guy with a Glock 19 with the 3.5# dis-connector and the other was a guy with a tricked out 1911 with a match trigger.

Is there any value in listing ones current FFL03, COE, and NRA certified instructor numbers as supplemental information for the application?

ETA: Do you get/request a receipt when you turn in the application?

          Thanks.

So, anything larger than .380ACP with a trigger not being too light? There is no such thing as an "allowed list" like a roster of some sort, correct? You can use any gun as long as you qualify with it.

It can't hurt. And no, there's no receipt - at least there wasn't in the past.

Correct. Other than the caliber floor and the safety requirement, you're good to go.

Here's a fun fact from the past: the actual LTC says 'License To Carry Concealed Pistol, revolver, or Other Firearm Within the State of California' - it's that 'Other Firearm' part that's interesting. Once upon a time back in the 90's I managed an indoor range in Santa Clara, and back then the Sheriff's Department didn't do the range qualification - we did. The owner of the range had an LTC and for giggles one year, he put a pistol gripped Remington 870 on it. Hell I even ran him through the qualifying course. Since we were the local restricted firearms dealer in the area back then, he justified it by saying that since he was transporting honest to god machine guns and SBRs to the various PDs, it made sense to have the 870 in his vehicle.

              True story.

Per the above referenced thread, now it's in Harris' hands to determine if she wants to drag this out further. Anyone know if she has a time limit on making that decision or can she sit on it indefinitely?

Rejected for no reasons several years ago, I resubmitted again to Laurie Smith's office last week. The response from admin staff was that they were "in the process of certifying qualification classes."

So, does my application have a 90 day processing limit, or is it still indefinite?

Are there any hopes of a CCW permit on SD as GC, and an insurance license for good moral character?

                          Cautiously optimistic.

So, would that translate to mean AOWs or include long guns such as an AR15? For example, if someone is frequently transporting a quantity of firearms to and from raffles, dinners, etc.

No. The license operates in the context of a framework of law, and provides an exception to the law. Those exceptions are encoded in the concealable weapon laws. The only significant exemptions I know of for the open carry laws in urban areas are for law enforcement.

I think he meant using "transporting a quantity of firearms to and from raffles, dinners, etc." as his "Good Cause" for a CCW... not necessarily putting said weapons on his CCW permit.

As a side note... Reed's (formerly National Shooting Club) is no longer the restricted-weapons (Class 3) dealer for this area is it? Who handles the LE agencies in this area these days? I saw a list here, but no idea if it's complete or up-to-date:

California is a notoriously anti-gun state, but that doesn’t mean it’s impossible to get your own FFL and become CA Class 3 dealer. FFL123 will help you
