Also for what it's worth, I would highly recommend the book "Gun Digest Book of Concealed Carry", by Massad Ayoob. It answers a lot of questions that are critical for those new to CCW, including equipment, modes of carry, backup guns, shoot/no-shoot scenarios, many of the legal implications that most people never consider, and a lot more. Very much worth your time to read it if you're serious about this. Gun Digest Book of Concealed Carry https://www.amazon.com/dp/1440232679..._GAvtwbS9GGSJM -
You can't carry in any federal building where federal employees are present, or on the property of such a building. So that means post offices (including their parking lots), national parks offices, federal courthouses, military bases and recruiting offices are all off limits. You can carry in national parks in California (or any state where you have a valid permit) but not inside buildings in those parks.Leave a comment:

They said you could start your renewal process 4 months before your permit expires.Leave a comment:

Thanks Mayor...That looks to be a good size target and at 3 to 10 yards shouldn't be a problem. I just wanted a idea of how to practice. Now I just need to get the "approved" phone call. I'm only 3 months in so I have plenty of time to practice... LolLeave a comment:

For those of you that have taken the ccw classes.... What kind of targets did they have you qualify with and at what distances?Leave a comment:

Not legally.
Per 39 CFR 232.1
Also, apparently a cased weapon would also be in violation of federal law, but I don't know the specific reference.(l) Weapons and explosives. No person while on postal property may carry firearms, other dangerous or deadly weapons, or explosives, either openly or concealed, or store the same on postal property, except for official purposes.Leave a comment:

From the Sheriff's PDF
When you have completed the application, please call (209) 468-4342 to
schedule an appointment with the PSD Background Investigator. When
you come in for the appointment, 2 forms of payment will be required: one
for $19.00 and one for $128.00. This covers the 20% cost to start the
process and the Department of Justice (DOJ) fingerprinting fees. The final
fee, if you are approved, will be $76.00.
It's been such a long time
... I don't even remember what I paid!
