You will receive an email directing you to proceed with the 16 hour training once you are approved.

Does the sheriffs office call you or send you an email when you are approved for your initial permit? Hoping to find out soon.

    ALERT:

Our new CCW Online application process starts TODAY- 08/26. I just called and spoke them and ironically went online at the same time. Was told it starts as of today. As someone commented earlier, it looks pretty easy. We are going to work on my wife's application this evening. I also asked about my renewal and was informed to go on the site submit application 90 days out (as someone already stated) The officer/desk clerk who I spoke with said they hope to get the process down to 1-3 months for new applications. Currently 3-5 months. Still better than mine- that took almost 11 months total. But I'm not complaining. Just happy to see the process getting better. Good luck everyone!

Good to know and I am assuming the license issued will be the cc style and not the laminated paper correct?

Today (8/26) I got my renewal approval email. Proceed with (4 hour) training and don't pick up my new license until 3 days prior to my existing permit's expiration. I'm a happy customer. Good Job SJSO folks!

Lots easier then the 1 year wait for the original CCW.

So the online system will not allow you to do until your 90 days out, my expiration date is December 26th of this year and I wont be able to submit it until September 27th, if you try to do it out of the 90 day mark it will say your license is expired and say you have to do a new application, so unfortunately you have to wait till your 90 days out.

It's in beta stages? Or its live? Is it still recommended to do it 4-5 months ahead of time like someone previously mentioned? I'm due in March 2020 and was planning on Nov/Dec but this sounds like it's relatively quick.

    Gordon Gray

Works out of Sac Valley Shooting Center.
    Excellent instruction!

I used him years ago for my Utah. I don't know if he still does Utah.

    New update:
Called SJC Sherriff today and they stated starting September 3rd they will be going to online application. They stated it should go live on september 3rd if not check everyday after that.

There will be a link on the SJC Sherriff's website called "Permidium"

That link will take you to the online application. Once there you can do your online application.

When entering your information you will get a tracking number which you must remember and you will need to create a password to login.

In that application you will have the ability to scan and attach your documentation i.e. DL and 2 forms of utility Bill's for current residency.

The background investigators will contact you for more info and if they require more information or documentation you will just have to use that tracking number to get your application and scan and upload any documents they may need.

Hope this helps for all my people in San Joaquin County.

Also I'm doing mine for my 3rd renewal.

    Good luck everyone!
