UPDATE (2015 March 14): Riverside has liberalized issuance, but still requires more than merely "self-defense" as a Good Cause statement. You have to flesh it out more, explaining why you need a CCW for self-defense. Best to read the posts from fall 2014 on to get an idea of what it takes, how to meet the standard.
