For those of you who have amended your permit recently, how long between upload your training paper online and the call for pickup?

THIS. Shut up and quit asking. SB County now has a strict limit as a result of people asking if it's okay. It's not illegal, therefore it is okay. The county also does not have any policies regarding modifications or magazine capacity. There are suggestions and recommendations, so use your best judgement.

LEOs and instructors warn against using standard capacity magazines because of the civil suit that will most likely follow the criminal suit in a self defense situation.

Chances you'll need to use your firearm in a self-defense situation? Slim to none.
Chances you wish you had more than 10 rounds per magazine in a self-defense situation? 100%

Article came out. The trainer shot an applicant. No that fault for handing a loaded gun and trainer for not checking the gun.

I understand that the process is ramping up, so we're looking at hundreds if not thousands of applicants going through the process. With the increased frequency, it is easy to get used to things going right. By nature, we can get complacent. Not saying that's what happened, but it's a great reminder for us to always be aware of the 4 rules and take extreme care when handling firearms.

Will riverside allow you to schedule an appointment time if you apply online? I work in orange county and have fridays off so I would prefer to do the interview on a friday.

Yes, after you pay the $122.75 you will get an order number and will be able to see what appointments are available from there. Weekday appointments seem to be available in as soon as two weeks. You can also re-schedule your appointment online too.

It sounds like RSO is getting very busy now with applicants, when I applied on July 17th, an interview date was only two weeks out, I got my interview on July 31st.

Here is my time-frame so far:

                        Application: July 17th
CCW class and qualification: July 21st
                        Interview: July 31st
                        Live scan: August 1st
Live scan background check (DOJ, FBI, Firearms) complete: August 7th

Just waiting to get the approval now and pay the final fee, hopefully it will be soon, but I suspect that it may be the first or second week of September before I get any notice due to the large amount of applicants that they are getting.

The live scan paper work has a tracking number on it. Go on DOJ site and use that to see if it's done

For anyone that want’s to check your live scan status, you need to go to the DOJ website at

Just enter the ATI number at the bottom of your live scan form and your birth date.

The DOJ website will only show processing until all checks are complete and then it will change to “completed”
