Went through the requal class/range day today. Very smooth as others have posted. The deputies are very pro CCW and extremely helpful. They want everyone to be safe on the range, but they will work with you and help you to a certain extent. They aren't looking to nitpick and fail people, they just want a safe range. Listen to their instructions and if there is ANYTHING you do not clearly understand, ask for clarification. Otherwise, do what you're told, when you're told and you will have zero issues.

As someone else mentioned - bring your own body armor if you can. It will really speed up your qual time. I was able to cycle through my three guns well before my buddy even shot twice. If you have your three mags loaded and ready, you just swap guns and mags at the bench area where you left your gear and end up shooting every other cycle. If you're on a time crunch, or just have better things to do, it's worth the investment.

I used an AlienGear IWB holster for two of my guns and a custom kydex OWB holster for my last gun. As long as you don't have your weapon tucked into your BVDs, you should be okay with most any holster you can safely operate.

I took four mags per gun. Three pre loaded to 6 rounds each, one empty mag for the function check. This sped things up for me.

While you only need 18 rounds per semi auto (5 or 6 x3 for your wheel gun), it doesn't hurt to have extra in case you have an off day and don't qualify the first time through with that little .380 you haven't ever practiced with. Or you could just be a cool guy and help someone else out who is short on ammo for whatever reason.

Class went right at 4 hours, maybe a few minutes less. I was in the back 1/3 of those lined up for function checks after lunches, but easily finished three guns in 45 minutes (had my own armor, mags pre loaded).

Keep an open mind, listen to instructions, ask questions if you need to, and try to have a good time.

Same experience for me. I couldn't understand why people didn't have magazines loaded. I went for the function check, went back to the bench grabbed 3 loaded mags and proceeded to the line while others were still loading mags.

No. You must use a holster, but they are not super strict on the type.

I've read a lot of CG members classifying their buisiness by carrying a lot of money as your GC. Are you guys restricted to only be allowed to carry while doing business? I am considering to apply, however my GC is on the weekends a few times a month. If I am approved, will I be limited to those times I can carry?

              CCW Riverside Livescan

I went through the training as well this past Sat at Ben Clark. I must say it was a fun class. All the Deputies are Pro CCW and are there to help you. Please make notes of the previous post which gives you all the info you will need!

One thing that I thought I would share...Deputy Yezzo mentioned that Livescans have been speeding up. They are currently at 2-3 months.

              Good Luck!

I heard that in order to get your ccw you must provide the sheriff your bank account showing you have minimum 5000$ or own a home? Is this true?

Do the holster need to have a strap or can they just have a friction lock?

The only one they will not allow is the serpa holster, as long as it keep your gun in place and it's safe to draw from they don't mind.

No. You must be thinking of Los Angeles County. There you have to give the Sheriff the $5000, and your house. Then, maybe, you might get a CCW.

What is up with those supplemental questions which do not apply to a Yes or No answer? When was the last time you were in a physical fight? Lost control of your temper? how many drinks do you have on average per week? Really? These questions seem like entrapment and illegal

You are probably correct that they are illegal. So hire a lawyer and take it to the Supreme Court. Or you can do like we all did and just answer them truthfully, and get your CCW.
