So what is the deal with standard capacity magazines? Are we allowed to use them with our CCW. It seems like we can according to the judge but what does the Sheriff think?

      Any advice

Hello all, I just submitted my paperwork online for Riverside county and got my interview date. I will be doing firearms training and qualifying in august even though I have not been approved yet, is there any advice or information you all might have.

Where you going for your qual and training class?

There's always a shot at picking up a sooner interview date if you check back daily. Really the one thing that ties up the process is waiting for your interview date. From my experience and what I've read off of here, it takes about 3-5 weeks from your interview date to get the CCW issued so long as all your paperwork is in order.

This would be a great question for someone to ask when they go visit Ben Clark to pick up their permit. I emailed my investigator about this and never received a response, and then completely forgot asking when I visited in person.

If someone asks this and gets an answer, we'd all be very appreciative to hear what you're told!

I did my ccw class at BC. They say use them, due to freedom week.

Submitted on 6/8 and got the call and email today 7/10 (total 32 days). Unfortunately out of town and won't be able to pick it up until next Wednesday.

I get that. But I guess we're mostly interested in hearing from the horses mouth whether we'd be safe in using them, or if we'd risk being the next Pheng Yang here in Riverside County

Fortunately his charges were dropped. But the man should've never been arrested to begin with.

The horses mouth is not a Sheriff or Police Chiefs, it's all the District Attorneys across this state and the Attorney General on whether or not they are going to prosecute you for having these on your person while out in the public. You can roll the dice and take your chances of dropped charges, jury acquittal, lawyer fees, confiscation of your magazines, etc. Or you can be safe with what you have, practice extra magazine loading skills and wait for the higher courts to settle this. Also when someone blogs a law, they should cite their source or section and not just leave it for self-interpretation and truth in somebody's word. Stay leery my friends!

i partially agree with you on this.
do i think he should have been arrested for the magazines, no. but the dude did have his brother living with him, which i believe was a felon? so that in itself is just asking for trouble if you ask me.

regardless, i carry 2-3 17 rd magazines on my person for my glock 45.

This was for a modification - I added three more to maximize the total six allowed.

FWIW, I had emailed the same investigator who processed my initial paperwork.
This may or may not helped the process. Hang in there brother...

Is there a way to sign up for ccw training at Ben Clark online?
