Unrelated, there was an article about a week or two back regarding how a new law gives Barnes another two years without another election.

It appears to be a leftist maneuver to get more dems voting so that sheriffs like Barnes and Bianco will be unable to get elected or re-elected.

I don't think that is a reasonable expectation unless you're willing to pay for something semi-private or private.

In the classes and renewals I have attended there is usually a mix of students, from some who hardly seem to be familiar with their firearm(s) to seasoned shooters, some of whom may view the qualification as an opportunity to show off just how qualified they are. The people who monitor the qualification might be employees of the instructor, or maybe the instructor(s) themselves, but I surmise mainly what they care about is having each student get 72 qualifying rounds through the first gun and 20 for every additional gun, on target, and getting home without someone getting shot or injured.

The instructors are happy to sell you additional training, but if you're paying $150-$200 for your initial qualifying course, there's not a lot of incentive for them to make the qualification something more than just a qualification.

I had a great experience with Ben Hansen at Hansen Firearms Training. Not in South County, but worth the drive (to Huntington Beach and Orange) in my opinion.
Online and in-person California CCW classes. We're an approved training provider for the Orange County, San Diego County, and Los Angeles County Sheriff's Departments. Let us help you get your non-resident CA CCW permit. Any out-of-state resident that is not criminally prohibited can now obtain a California license to legally carry a concealed firearm in California!

I am not sure all the interviewers are actual deputies. It's more like an office staff, who record your answers and send the application down the pipeline.

So now I have to pick another training site. Any recommendations, preferrably in South County and preferably less expensive ones. From what I have seen they run $200 to $225 for a single gun. It will be for two guns.

    Thanks.

PS. I just got emailed that my interview was moved up. Does anyone know if the inteviews will actually be done by OCSO deputies or by Permitium?
Check out FastOC, and no limit.

OCSD Deputies will conduct the interview, Permitium is the online platform that hosts the CCW application process.
