So apparently (according to the instructor) 160 residents of Marin have taken the qualifications course since Bruin - anyone seen a permit from the Sheriff yet since the decision?

I'm approaching 90 days since initial application now (originally sent an email June 23). Will probably be checking in at some point

I submitted my application roughly a month ago. Was told first step was to take the Marin County Sheriff entrance pysch eval. I said I'm not trying to be in law enforcement. Said California doesn't have the right to have a contractor evaluate me prior to exercising my rights. Then reviewed their written policy statement, which says first step is background check, followed by submitting three references. Asked why we weren't following the written process. Two weeks later received the response to submit livescan and three references. So if I can't or won't provide three references I don't have the right to defend my life? It's not that I can't provide three references. I won't. In 1791 they weren't doing reference checks.

While I wont say you are wrong about the need for references or the Psych eval especially having gone through this process and seen what they ask and what they do...........that being said if you are waiting for things to get better than they are today in Marin you likely have a very long wait! If anything things will get worse when Sacramento takes another stab at SB 918

            Gamble as you see fit...........

Are you a member of the California Rifle and Pistol Association? If not, you should be. Reach out to them and let them know what's going on in your county. Perhaps some of their legal efforts can be directed your way.

Support Your Second Amendment Rights. The California Rifle & Pistol Association, founded in 1875, provides training in the safe, responsible, and enjoyable use of firearms; sanctions competitive shooting state championships; and fights for the constitutional right to keep and bear arms for those who choose to own a gun in California for sport, hunting, or self-defense.

Applying to City vs Sheriff in Marin

Trying the City route. Not going well. Thinking of trying the sheriff.

                  Central Marin...

Be interesting to know if the "psychological appointment" is taking the entrance exam to the sheriff's dept...

Which city are you applying with? Just curious.

A couple of friends who missed the cut off before the Sheriff moved applications to city Chiefs have reported that its not going well, no response or the response being waiting on city attorney to provide guidance.

I think at this point if you are in a city where the Sheriff has designated the Chief of police take over the process you are ***** out of luck in going back to the Sheriff - Stacy seems to have become nonresponsive so I have heard, and the Sheriff has washed his hands of these applications - you know being so overwhelmed.

                          New Permits

So definitely past the 90 days for anyone who applied pre Bruen or just after the decision was handed down.

Anyone get their permits from the Sheriff or any response? Anyone get denied?

How does one determine if their city falls out of Sheriff jurisdiction for applications? Does the sheriff notify applicants?

Prior to submitting your application, please e-mail us at ccwapplications@marinsheriff.org so we can determine within what jurisdiction you reside. Some applications are handled by the local municipalities within Marin County.
