This is good to know. I asked at my interview and the deputy said I had to wait until my renewal "if" I got my permit. I was waiting on a purchase if it looked like I was going to get approved. Thank you.

my interviewing deputy specifically mentioned that they are not granting licenses for hiking in remote areas or that sort of thing. he emphasized they were specifically looking for work-related good causes (which I had). just putting it out there for anyone who is contemplating using that as a sole light green good cause.

also, sounds like they're only accepting money orders or cashier's checks now, not personal checks. some poor calgunner was there trying to beg them to take his cashier's check since he'd mailed in his app previously with a personal check.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that if you're applying under LG GC, just the activity alone is not likely to lead to a successful application. You'll likely have to prove:

                1. the frequency of these activities (just your word won't suffice, not that they don't believe you) with physical supporting evidence (parking or access permit receipts, gas receipts, GPS tracking records...etc.).

                2. you have a need to bring expensive items with you that could attract robber/thieves (e.g. expensive bike for cyclists or camera gear for photographers and so on).

It will probably help also if the area in which you do these activities have a history of crime in the area against those engage in such activities. I'm not trying to discourage anyone from applying, but if you're going to apply with a GC that's weaker than yellow or red, you'll need to bring your A game into the GC statement and application.

I agree they will most probably ask for these kinds of records. the problem is that unless you knew a year or so ago that you would need these for a permit, I don't know anybody who saves such things. Then when you do show up with these kinds of records which no normal person saves, you look like somebody who is doing all of this "just to get a permit". It's a bit of a catch 22.
I wish today's liberals could understand: You cannot be generous by giving away other peoples' money and you cannot demonstrate your virtue by your willingness to give up other peoples' rights.

Yup. And on top of all that, unless your interviewing deputy is gung-ho on getting permits issued for green related causes, most of those records might not even make it up the chain

Yes a bit of a catch 22, but strong evidence still better than no evidence and some people are pack rats and never throw anything away.

This is NOT GOOD NEWS for those of us with “light green” good cause. My deputy a month ago, sort of said the opposite as he reviewed my light green GC: hiking, camping and snowshoeing in remote places multiple times a years and shooting competitions with expensive equipment 2-3 times a month. I had a photograph from each trip for the former, a list of dates for the shooting competitions, and spreadsheets of the values of competition guns. He said I was the sort of person they were looking for to issue. And he said his reviewing Deputy would want copies of receipts to support the expensive guns, which I provided right away. Now that was a month ago, and policy may have changed. My Live Scan is complete and I await a training email or…..dreaded letter.

Perhaps the onslaught of applications provided enough red and yellow GCs to meet quotas so they could back off on the light greens they’d started to issue earlier in the year??

If I could go back in time I could create a stronger yellow GC. If I get denied I can reapply with a stronger GC. I'm in limbo right now being held hostage by the process.

It's a ccw lottery now. This LA County ccw rollout has been bungled badly.
AV's re-election is possibly in jeopardy, as this whole approach appears to be purely politically motivated.
