Hello gents,

Please help me with the application. I am sorry if the questions were answered before but after reading thru hundreds of pages and I might have missed some thing. Most of the answers were all about good causes, and not the actual application itself.

1> Right at the beginning, the public disclosure Admonition part, do I need to sign before I mail it in? Do I need a witness? or I do it in front of the interviewer at the interview? I think this happen through out the application
2> The instruction on page 2 said to finish section 1-5 only, section 6,7,8 are to be completed in presence of an official. Section 7 is Investigator note, but that where the GC statement is. So the instruction is contradicting...

The applicant will thoroughly Complete Sections 1-8,INCLUDING SECTION 7 and Sign Pages 3, 8, and 11, of the Department of Justice Standard Application. The completed application can be submitted to your local Sheriff Station or mailed to:

NOTE: The DOJ Application instructs the applicant to only complete Section 7, when directed to do so. The CCW Unit requires Section 7 to be complete in order to contact you.

Fill out form completely and sign where you need to sign. Witness signature will be signed by the deputy during your interview.

If you look at lasd's site, it says to sign and fill out all those portions as well

Got call today for pickup. About 7 weeks after acknowledgement of all training paperwork.

4/14 dropped off packet in Temple City
6/8 Got call for interview
6/22 interview (was out of town, had appts week before) in MP
Told to do Livescan, completed 6/24
Told to do training Aug 15th
Completed training and sent in paperwork, confirmed on 3 Sept. Email said expect answer in 4 weeks.
Call 10/25 from private number to pickup Wed.
Light red GC.

Thank you, another stupid question, if I send in a cashier check or money order, how can I find out what day it was cashed? I believe cashier check will be debited the day I get it from the bank. Thanks.

You applied almost the same day I did, and our interviews were about a week apart. I think my doing training early may have gotten me through a month earlier than you. But of course, that's a $200 or so (and 8 hours) risk if I had gotten denied. So if anyone is considering doing the same, just make sure you accept that risk tradeoff to (possibly) gain some speed.

I also waited a few days to do my livescan...then it took forever for the DOJ to send it to LASD so that didn't help lol

Ya my livescan went crazy fast, according to DOJ's website (whether they then took forever to tell LASD, I dont know)

Finally got the call today around 2p to pick up this wed!!
Big thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread.

My advice, don't summit your training certs until you are told to do so. As someone mentioned before, you'll be left in the dark until you get called for pickup. Be patient!

4/29 check was cashed
5/24 called for an interview
6/1 interview
6/1 livescan
6/12 completed training. (was not asked to do training)

6/17 emailed ccw unit proof of training
6/21 received email from interviewing deputy asking if i could send another proof of address. My lease is month to month. They wanted car registration instead. I replied and sent it 5 min later.
10/25 received a phone call to pick up ccw license on 10/27
I was never emailed by the ccw unit to continue with training.

Hi,
Checking in. Looking at everyone else's timeline, I'm guessing I won't be getting my permit until some time next year. I did have a question about the codes you fellas are using as far as good cause.. What does it mean? yellow light, green light, red light etc. Thanks.
