How do traffic violations affect GMC? I have a 5mph over in 2018, a 15mph over in 2020 (did a "diversion of justice"), and a rolling a stop sign in 2020 (took an online traffic school), all out of state. No criminal or civil history, no drug use, etc. I am confident that without those traffic violations, my GMC would be an absolute no-brainer, but I'm worried that with those in the mix, it might result in a denial. Any thoughts? I scrolled through most of these posts and saw people talking about convictions that happened many years ago, but not much in the way about traffic tickets, especially ones that happened a year ago.Comment

I had 2 tickets in 2019: Camera ticket for running a red light, and not turning right to the right most lane.
In 2015, I had a fix it ticket that got my license suspended when I forgot to take care of it.
I explained it all to the interviewing deputy, and he did caution that the suspension might hurt my chances, since they are looking for people who stay on top of things and not let that happen.
I honestly thought that would kill my chances, but I got the email to proceed to training, so I assume I'm good.
Just be very honest and explain what happened. Imho, I think as long as it's not DUI or other extremely reckless behavior, or a repeating pattern of stops that's beyond the typical, you should be fine.

I agree with you... My guess is they have a dedicated person answering emails..While I generally agree that emailing probably isn't helpful, two points in response to this:
1. This is my first such email in the over two months since my interview, and the deputy had said to check in after two months if I hadn't heard anything.
2. I doubt that the person responding to the CCW unit emails is doing the heavy lifting in terms of processing and approving any applications, so their replies likely have no bearing on the speed of processing applications overall. It's probably a clerical employee, not a deputy. I very well could be wrong.
I'm still waiting for an answer.. anyone have a big pillow for me to cry into? lol.. on another note I wonder how long our livescan is good for?Comment

Was walking home with 2500rds 9mm that just got shipped to me, and too heavy for the cart that was about to break, when an anonymous call came in!
Picking up CCW on 9/16 at Monterey Park station!
So the process was almost exactly 5 months for me from the time I mailed my application on 4/14!
I never once emailed the CCW Unit for updates and was just patient with the process. Even though I did the training early, I also did not email the training certificate until they emailed me to proceed with training.
So I hope this update helps others in this group keep the faith! They'll get to you! Thanks to Paladin and all the others sharing advice and their experiences with the process.
