My approval came within a day, so I just need to schedule a class.

But I'm in a personal pickle as my wife and I went to Nevada over the weekend and saw a property we want to buy, so it may no longer be worth my time to get the CA permit as I may not need it in a very short time.
Do not try and bend the spoon, that's impossible. Instead, only try to realize the truth...there is no spoon.

Hi everyone - just wanted to pass along some advice from what we've been seeing with the renewals for San Mateo County. As soon as you hit your 90 day window for renewals, apply for that renewal and also go get your training. You don't need permission like your initial application for the training as long as it happens after you submit your renewal application. We spoke to someone in the CCW unit and they don't mind the training being done before you receive "permission" to get your renewal training, but they don't want applicants wasting their time or money if something happens and they don't get approved. Food for thought!

Good news as initially we had to wait until approved etc, this should help speed up the renewals!

Renewal people would be best served not dawdling whatsoever. Given the delays I don't think it's possible to be able to get a new permit before the current one expires with the 90 day window, even if you get the ball rolling at the first chance.

I agree. Impossible to get before your permit expires. I applied 90 days early and got interview 82 days later. Submitted certificate from Saber Tactics approximately 3 weeks ago and waiting for call to go pickup new permit. Was told they are very busy. I was accustom to the experience I had with Jennifer on my initial CCW that within a few days of submitting my certificate to her I had my permit in hand. Hope to get a call soon, finger crossed!

Has anyone had any luck/contact with the office once you sent in your certification for the renewal? I can see them being back up but no communication for anything for about 2 weeks now.

I'm going on 3 weeks since I emailed my certificate. It's a waiting game. I contacted my interviewer and was told they are backed up and they also forwarded my certificate to SHERIFFS_CCW@cgov.org as I did too. I think if you get a hold of someone you will be told, it's a big backlog and they will get to you. Not much you can do. Just my opinion. Good luck!

I did my renewal right at the 90 day mark and was approved in less than 24 hours. Instructions say it will take them 2-3 weeks to process your CCW after submitting your qualification certificate.

Tuesday will be 4 weeks since I submitted certificate. I will post how many weeks it takes me so people have some idea of the waiting period. The only instructions I received from the County were as follows: Please be patient as they are extremely busy due to the volume of applications. I'll keep my finger crossed I get some good news soon.

Were you able to get in touch with anyone at the County. I sent another email to the Sheriff's office this week and no reply. This coming Tuesday will be 5 weeks since I submitted certificate.

Nothing yet, five weeks... Radio silence. I even emailed the person who did my interview to follow and nothing. I was told that Ms. Aziz, not acknowledgment of anything yet.

I sent an email to the person I had my interview with and asked if five weeks was normal waiting time and he replied as follows: Quote- Due to an increased workload and changes in personnel, that timeframe is in line, but we are trying to shorten it up. March 4th will be six weeks since I submitted my certificate. Good luck.
