It was strange that some people thought the incoming Sheriff might be more friendly toward issuing CCW licenses. When asked about CCWs during the campaign, all she would say that she would be taking a "new approach."

This is the Sheriff being petty for no good reason. If a CCW holder is involved in a shooting, even if it was 100% justified, it should be assumed that the firearm will be confiscated by the police and held for months or years.

After a shooting, a CCW holder will have to apply to amend his/her CCW license to list a different firearm, wait for the Sheriff's office to respond, possibly take another CCW course, and then requalify with the new gun. If you're rich, I suppose that you could buy an extra CCW gun, hold it in reserve, and then hire an instructor for a private CCW qualification course. The rest of us will just be disarmed for months.

Applied Monday got a blank email Tuesday saying I am getting a refund and now the refund has been posted to my account. Anyone else having the same experience as I am? I read through this thread and can't find anything definitive. I've called the CCW dept at the alameda county sheriff and only get voice mail.. can never get anyone on the phone.

Anyone know what is going on or have success recently getting an appointment?

          Thank you!

You have a better chance of running for Governor of California and getting elected than getting a CCW in Alameda County. They are refunding and placing you on hold until they figure out how to not follow the law. There are videos on Youtube about it.

I haven't taken the test but this is what I found online for the Alameda County CCW range qualification:

Yes that is the correct range qual information...as they are currently. I just went through that last week. twice now i've seen people slide bitten at the qual.. bleeding. Sadly, a lot of these people need to train a lot more than they have been.

I thought they were going to change to an IPSC style target. I guess it's on the back burner or maybe too many of the "special class" CCW holders couldn't pass it?

How were people getting slide bite? Did they not even know how to operate their firearm? A lot of those strings look like you don't even have to draw (option for low ready).

I didnt notice the B-21F on there. You're correct, different target they're using currently. Here is a pic of the one we used. The distances, time, # rounds are correct.

I think some people not holding guns properly as there is some level of stress in the range qual? Slides cutting into their hands. More training needed for sure. 1/2 of the range qual was to pull firearm out of holster. The other half, low ready.

The great advantage of a state wide system is that it would be easier to monitor and "police." If the state pulls the kind of shennanagans that Alameda County and lots of other counties are, its just one lawsuit instead of multiple.

I took my 16 hour CCW class recently and at the end we did a mock Alameda qualification test. I was told I would have easily passed if it was for real.

What constitutes getting full points? Is it the small circle or the oval?

ACSO now uses the ACSO99 target. T and center mass hits count as 5. The new course of fire specifies "center mass" and starts at 2yd rather than at 25yd. They don't seem to be very happy if you have too many head shots.

Only one gun is allowed on the application but if you qualified 90% or above, you may request a second gun.

Are shots outside of center mass still scored but with less points in other zones on the target, or is it all or nothing with center mass getting 5 points and anything else is zero points?
