Applied once a gain this morning and already received the email from Permitium informing me that a refund has been issued.
Still only allowing one firearm to be entered on the application. Also the application currently states that "good cause" is no longer a criteria in issuing a CCW license and they are in fact acknowledging the recent SCOTUS ruling, but if you'd like to include an explanation for why you are applying you may do so.
I find it interesting that they have updated the application to reflect the recent SCOTUS ruling and acknowledge it, but are still kicking back applications and not processing any at this time.sigpicComment

1st email 7/8 1:16PM
"There is no new form, only a new system. Please wait for our announcement."
2nd email 7/8 1:17PM
"We are proceeding one application at a time."
3rd email 7/8 1:21PM
"The new system is not yet in place; thus, the refund. As mentioned before, the change will be announced."
Sooo I guess we just need to waitComment

So today I emailed and asked about the refund and I received 3 emails within minutes of each other. I think there's a glitch in their email system so maybe it look like I sent them 3 emails of the same question

Still seems a bit disingenuous to me. If they aren’t using Permitium/the current system in place why is it still up and operational and still allowing people to “apply”? My guess is it would look bad for them and give litigants grounds for recourse if they just took it down with nothing in place until the new system is up and running just to make it look like they’re actually taking applications right now. Plus, all of this goes against that letter that was released recently that appeared to be written by a 7th grader where it stated that if you’ve already applied you won’t lose your place in line and then said a sentence or two later to feel free to apply again. Makes absolutely no sense and they are constantly contradicting themselves.
First they say if you've applied you wont lose your spot in line, then encourage us to apply again, then say that they same system they encouraged you to apply though isn't working and to standby for the new system to be rolled out.Last edited by Vinnie Boombatz; 07-08-2022, 2:27 PM.sigpicComment

All the You tubers are calling them out across the country.
Reno May did a good video about Alameda County

By the consensus, this "new system" will probably take MONTHS to roll out on purpose, I feel that they are just out of ideas and are trying to gather time to come up with ways to make it harder for AC residents to get a CCW.

I wonder if part of the plan is to have the state take over as the issuing authority instead of leaving up to each individual county.sigpicComment

Or whatever they adopt would be more inline with the strictest counties (minus the good cause part) as far as qualifying, psych eval, GMC, etc. and make the whole state stricter. That wouldn't be good.sigpicComment

No they can't do that, SCOTUS ruling prevents certain things and as long as you have a clean record you should be fine, just the waiting game at this point.sigpicComment

But there are also rumors that they will implement stuff like NY is proposing as far as checking all of your social media accounts, having to go to a psychiatrist (of their choosing), etc.sigpicComment

I received some information today at a CCW class that pertains to Alameda regarding the application process. I am not saying that this is all factual, but was told to me by someone running the course. It could be credible, it might be completely off, but thought I'd share it with the rest of you and do with it what you want.
Regarding the application process...if you have applied and received an email from Permitium that states a refund has been issued, it does not mean you've lost your place in line. I was told that what they will be doing is at some point (to be determined) they will be calling in people to start the process by performing the background check and fingerprinting FIRST. The rationale I was told behind this was due to the overwhelming number of applicants, this will weed out prohibited persons right away (those with a criminal record, those who can't legally own a firearm for whatever reason). This means they don't have to interview these prohibited individuals and then later find out they are prohibited. It knocks them out of the running, essentially helping "speed up" the process. Those that pass the fingerprinting and background check will then be passed on to the next phase.
Again, if anything Ive said is false or you just don't agree with it or whatever, don't come after me. I'm just relaying what I was told today. Take from it whatever you want, but don't take it as gospel. It was emphasized that applying multiple times over and over is not the thing to do and if you've already applied you do have a spot in the queue.sigpicComment
