The email did say that our records would be sent to the local PD for continuity. Looks like we would just go through the renewal process.

99.9% sure it's a renewal, based on my correspondence with both ACSO and my local PD.

Was it you or someone else a number of weeks back that i suggested they call their Cordico contact? In that the case, the pysch eval was never sent to The County. He called and it was sent promptly.

What is the risk of scheduling the class/qualification course even though we haven't finished with the psych evaluation? I like to think that neither my wife or I are bat **** crazy (no more looney than any political conservative living in Alameda County), so I am reasonably confidant we are going to complete the psych portion without problem.

It wasn't me but thanks for the suggestion, will go ahead and reach out tomorrow to them, Kevin right? That's the guy I need to reach out to?

The only downside I can think of is that if you take the class with someone who's not in ACSO's accepted list then they might reject the qual certificate. And to be devil's advocate, if you do take class with someone who's accepted by ACSO as of let's say last month and for whatever reason by the time they send you green light for qual you happen to find out that they are not certified anymore then that's a problem. The chances for something like this is extremely small but hey, you never know right?

The other thing is that I heard (unfortunately I don't have any proof) the qual certificate is good for 3 months so you would need ACSO to process your permit within 3 months of qual so what if for some weird reason ACSO doesn't send you the green light for qual for 3 months after your qual is done?

Again, you don't have to take my words for it specially when I can't quote any of the sources. I was in your shoes a while ago and that's when I went through this whole exercise and therefore just sharing what went through my mind. At the end, the decision is yours and good luck!

Kevin is the guy that contacted me so sounds like you also. I had to call him a few times day of my test and I found him to be helpful and responsive. His cell should be in the email he sent you. PM me if you can't find it. I don't want to post it here.

This approach quickly fixed the issue with the other guy. If you scroll back you can probably find where we had this same discussion. I think it was in January.

Does anyone know the deadline to complete and pass the qualification course?

I see that Sacramento County has a six-month deadline to complete everything once the Contingent Approval email is sent out. However, I do not see an equivalent deadline for Alameda County.

I was approved for my CCW in January but have been procrastinating, probably because I?m worried about shooting the 25-yard target. I?ll plan to sign up for a course in the next few days.

I don't know the deadline but I can tell you this. It is worth doing some practice at 25 yards but the scoring allows you to miss every 25 yard shot and 5 of the 15 yard shots. There are 50 shots and you need 70 percent. So that's 35 hits. It's a little more complicated because the target has two points regions. I forget exactly but something like a central 4 point region and an outer 3 point region. You need 175 out of 250.
