I'd love to know the same. I applied on Nov. 20, 2022 and have not heard anything, yet. Permitum says "assigning to processor shortly...", which it has said from the beginning.

What did Judea say your queue number was?

I was 1096. Applied 9/6/2022 and got the notice for my initial interview on 1/31/2024.

The deputy I interviewed with said they have three deputies doing the interviews one day a week. He said averaged six to eight interviews each day. That means a low of 18 interviews a week across the three deputies and a high of 24. With your queue number, that should give you some data from which to set your expectations.
My friends and family disavow all knowledge of my existence, let alone my opinions.

I also received the pickup email yesterday. So I guess they do them in batches. I am scheduled to pick up (finally!!!) on Friday.

Does anyone remember if Alameda has a duty to inform? Curious if anyone has a copy of the license agreement that is shown during pick-up.

was one of the early ones who went through the process right after the SCOTUS decision. My permit is about to expire since it's been a year since I picked up my permit and the one interesting thing (but Im not surprised) is no notification from the County letting me know my permit is about to expire, nothing leading up to that telling me that I have to re-qualify and how to prequalify, etc. SO make sure you guys are proactive and plan ahead of time so you can prequalify and get all your ducks in a row before your permit expires in a year. It's not an issue for me since I just left the state. It took me less than an hour and one trip to the local Sheriff's office to get my permit in my new state.

I just picked up my permit today. No license or anything shown at pickup. Just a plain printed paper that says things like they will reach out for renewal when it's time, reminder to let them know if residency changes, etc.

Wait so your permit was valid for only a year? This is interesting because I just double checked mine and it's for 2 years 🤔

Btw renewal for us is gonna be a huge mess because the ACSO technician told me today that it's highly likely we would have to deal with the city PD which means it might have to go through as a "new application" instead of a renewal. But it's just a speculation at this point and nobody can confirm anything until the dust settles on the whole application process by each city PDs.

It is valid for two years but those of us issued early on were told we needed to re-qualify annually. I am hearing now that ACSO has withdrawn that requirement but I have yet to hear confirmation that that is indeed the case.

I am concerned about ACSO pawning this off to local PDs as that is really unfair to those of us already issued to have to start at square one. I understand sending new applicants in that direction but those of us already issued should be permitted to renew. Additionally, what about people expiring soon (pre-Bruen holders)? Fremont PD for example is now responsible for being the IA for those in that city as of 3/1/24 yet they have no policy or procedures in place so then what happens? Your ACSO permit just expires and your SOL?? Hopefully someone from CRPA can address this issue.

Strong Agree. These local PDs don't have the infrastructure set up and are unlikely to be able to comply with the timelines required by law. Furthermore, the politics around these local PDs issuing ccw's may be material issue. I would recommend that one submit a renewal at least 6 months in advance of one's current license expiring.

CRPA is already suing LASD and LaVerne PD over timelines (among other issues), which go to the core of this (anticipated) issue.

Just got this e-mail from Judea.

                            ATTN: Concealed Carry Weapon Licensees

Senate Bill 2 has brought about changes that Alameda County Sheriff?s Office has been enforcing.

Please read carefully the changes that we are going to enforce:

                            ANNUAL RANGE QUALIFICATIONS
Whereas you were notified upon pick up of your initial licenses that range qualification, which would include a 4-hour refresher class, is an annual requirement, that requirement is now being modified to an 8-hour class, including range qualification, and should be met before or around the expiration date of your license. In other words, this requirement will have to be fulfilled every two years, instead of every year.

                            RENEWALS
The renewal of CCW licenses will be administered by local police departments. However, ACSO will continue to process renewals until these local entities firmly establish their procedure, based on what we imparted to them.

Another announcement will be sent when a date is solidified. You can initiate contact with your local police department when your license is about to expire. Your files, for the purpose of continuity, will be transferred to them. Rest assured that your cause will always be served steadfastly.

ACSO will remain to be the CCW issuing agency for the residents of City of Dublin and the unincorporated areas of the County.

                            REFORMATTED IDs:
ACSO recently received from the Department of Justice the reformatted IDs. They will be sent to you by mail as soon as we can commence printing them.

it's a good email that addresses a lot of my concerns about the transition.
