I emailed Sheriff Mulder to ask for an update (back in Jan when i last asked she estimated I would be interviewed toward end of this year.. am in the 1300s) and she told me they were processing in the 900s and my interview would be next year sometime

So this means that acso is processing around 50 ccw per month since Bruen and my processing time will be 18+ months

Just saw the crpa email about suing la sheriff dept for taking 18mo to process and am wondering how much more acso has to (not) do before being included in a law suit

I think you and me are in the same batch. I am #901 and I was asked to do the Livescan on 10/28 but I had something come up so ended up doing it on 11/9. Anyway, just got an email this morning for the interview. So keep an eye out, you should get something soon too.

That's an extreme example, but since this is for a CCW, anything that's discrepant to your permit might be an issue. Maybe they'd have you make the swap in the field and then additionally qualify with the other config. Only they can advise you on this.

During our safety class we discussed that A/C doesn't have an issue with changing sights or adding red dots, and presumably doesn't have an issue with making the grip fit better/safer (like backstrap changes), but we were advised that for CCW, we should avoid touching the trigger, barrel, slide, etc. from stock as it only gives a prosecutor something to potentially use against you, even if it doesn't seem rational. So I'd suggest reaching out to ACSO and then appreciate you reporting back here what you learned for everyone's education. Thanks!
When you fill out the form and on your CCW permit, all it says is manufacturer, model, serial #, cal./auto or revolver Instructor fills in the same info after your qual. That's it.

Every instructor has parroted that since Massad Ayoob wrote it 25 years ago. I?m pretty sure there is no case law where someone improved their trigger and that was a major factor in convicting them.

There are potential problems with going with a super light trigger and then being accused of accidentally discharging the gun. Or if you are like that dip **** cop who had a component on his gun (albeit a rifle) that was imprinted with something moronic like “Get some” or “Wait for flash.”

Improving the action of your gun can effectively be argued that you were doing so to improve accuracy and therefore put bystanders less at risk. But I?ll personally stay away from the gucci crap that is supposed to make the gun look bad ***. I also recognize that I have zero experience as a gunfighter, so I don?t want a 2lb. competition-level trigger on my carry gun, let alone the concern over what that does to reliability.
My friends and family disavow all knowledge of my existence, let alone my opinions.

            Interview questions?

Got my interview invitation yesterday so my interview will be next week. Took 6.5 weeks after my Live Scan which was 14 months after application.

I am curious about the interview. What sort of question are asked? Can someone who's been through the interview give me a bit of a head-up?

The interview covers your application. For mine, they covered the entire application again asking me essentially anything on the application that?s material. Where I disclosed something or had more than a simple yes or no, they dove in deeper to understand and ensure the application was right and accurate to the best of your knowledge.

Was simple, informal, and fairly straightforward. Great time to ask them questions about the process and timeline from here.

You must be close. I was 8/1. They chunk it in batches.

I am hoping that it comes sooner rather than later, especially since I feel like it's so close

Well, obviously you have to follow whatever the current laws are in California….

does anyone know how SB2 will actually affect the CCW process? Does it affect people that applied already or only people that will apply after Jan 1? For example, I am mid-process and have my interview this week. Will things come grinding to a halt after Jan 1?

I don't think it will change the CCW permitting process. The State already lost that lawsuit. Instead they just want to make the permit useless by restricting almost anywhere it's legal to carry… and we need them to lose that lawsuit too. Hopefully we get the injunction of SB2 pending the hearings so we can continue to carry during the lawsuit. Key thing will be the hearing on 12/20. Be sure to donate to CRPA and FPC to support the great work they're doing on these lawsuits!!

tbh maybe i'm alone here, but i'm glad the ccw process is costly and time consuming. i don't want casuals to carry around concealed guns just because they can. let's be honest: the average person has no real use for a concealed firearm. the average person will not be robbed or physically attacked in their lifetime. the average person carrying just increases the chance of accidental/negligent discharge, or some hero complex where they draw when it's not needed. the idea of some tech bro carrying a pistol just because he can makes me feel less secure, not more secure. i would rather serious people who are willing to sacrifice the time, cost, and effort to go through the process and train to be the only ones able to carry firearms in public.
