94 days for background; 24 days until receipt of CCW

San Diego County: I had my interview on 10/25/21 (I had my interview within 2 weeks of initially applying). I received a text and an email on 1/27/22 saying I was approved (94 calendar days). I was able to sign-up and attend a class the next day and upload the Firearm Safety Certificate that evening (1/28/22). The 28th was a Friday, and I uploaded the Certificate after business hours. So I presume it was actually received on Monday (1/31/22). I received my CCW in the mail on 2/24/22 (so not counting that weekend, 24 days from when they received my firearm certificate until I received my permit. I had been told that when the sheriff’s office receives the uploaded firearm certificate, the CCW permit goes into “a queue” and takes 2-3 weeks.

So it took 122 days from the date of interview to receipt of my CCW card.

Just fold it up and shove it in. It only has to last for two years...sadly. It will be fine as long as you don't take your wallet swimming. And if that happens, just call and ask them for a reprint.

Is this period fixed at 90 days? Or when space becomes available, could SDSO complete their background investigations earlier than that 90 day mark?

No rush, just curious if its a window that must pass in its entirety, or if its a 'soft' window to allow them adequate and ample background investigation time.

    Thanks everyone!

-EDIT: If I was posted in the wrong section, my apologies, please move me to the correct sub-forum!
It depends, there are cases whereby you have to wait after 90 days, in some cases within the 90 days mark.

Plastic card LTC very nice but paper lic (real lic) looks 30% larger than last version. At least it has 4 pistols on it. Good job and Blue Skies to SD Sheriffs Lic Div!

Check the status bar on the County website.
If the status bar is gone, CALL THEM.
This my post from the OC forum.

    It always says Approval Pending.
I checked last night and the Status Bar is gone.
Any idea how much longer before I get a yes or no answer?
I decided to give them a call today after no response via email.
The lady was very nice, saying she would check my status.
Then she comes back on the line and says that i need to talk to her supervisor.

The supervisor tells me that my application has been withdrawn.
When i ask why, she said that I had 10 days after my interview to submit more paperwork and that time went by with no response
Luckily I saved all email correspondences with them.
When i ask what she needed, she said Proof of Residence.
I told her that i sent it at this time and this date. Ohh, i see that was her response.
We also need proof of your class. I sent it on the same date 2 minutes later. Ohh, i see that.
She also ask why there was a letter from my employer. I told her that they ask for proof of employment. Ohh, was her response

Long story short.... KEEP RECORDS of all emails that you have with the Sheriff Dept !

My CCW card will be sent in the mail tomorrow

THANK YOU! I just didn't remember. I know it's not a duty to notify-you're-carrying county.

As previously stated above by another member, mine took about 1year and 3 months total also.

Original start of me looking and applying online was may 2021 and got interview for oct 2022.
Got oct2022 appt moved up to oct 2021
    then 91days for final approval
then 24days for actual ccw card to come in the mail.

Its a test of patience. If anyone wanted to use the carry permit nefariously they had plenty of time to cool down before issuance thats for sure...LOL
