Has it taken anyone more than 2 weeks to get their license in the mail once submitting everything and paying the final fees? I'm at 2 weeks and counting. I know it says 3-4 weeks in the email but curious to what people are experiencing. -
I qualified with 3 guns with 45 rounds in 30 minutes. The other guy who was qualifying at the same time with one gun was not done when i went back to the class. remember the longer you spend in the range the more class room lecture you miss.Leave a comment:

Just finished my qual today. Three guns and only one flyer for the entire course of fire (300 rounds).
And that was on the first shot with my Sig P226 (.357Sig); I blame it on my recent carpal tunnel surgery!
Seriously though, I wasn't sure how I'd shoot since I haven't handled a firearm since the surgery in Feb. and the hand is still a little tender. Turned out to be a non-issue after all.
Upload and start watching the mail next...Leave a comment:

The CCW page at SDSO says 3 but in reality it's unlimited.
I qualified with 3 and learned the truth, came back with 4 more the next week. I believe you have 30 days after your first shoot to add more.Leave a comment:

I did my Requal in Dec with four guns. No problem. They were even joking about a woman who held the record and brought 17 guns. More than three guns doesn't seem to be a problem unless something has changed recently.Leave a comment:

This, exactly. They do sell ammo there and I think 9mm is still on sale right now, but I would buy a head of time if you can just in case. BY THE WAY, I'm pretty sure that DGM will only allow three guns at a time, so you'll have to make another appointment for any additional pistols you want on your permit, so 100 SHOULD be enough for your purposes.
Good luck!Leave a comment:

It kinda depends on how many guns you plan on qualifying with. If memory serves there were five courses of fire of five rounds each at 7 yards (2 hands), 5 yards (strong hand and weak hand), 3 yards (strong hand and weak hand). So that would be 25 rounds per gun.
BUT...there is a newer requirement that first timers must shoot a total of 100 rounds (renewing a permit requires 50 rounds). Sooo if you're qualifying with four different guns, you'll hit the 100 rounds. But if you're bringing 3 or less, you won't and will need to shoot extra rounds to get to 100. And all of this assumes that you shoot clean and don't have to redo anything.
So...bring at least 100 rounds and bring plenty of extra if you happen to be qualifying with a lot of guns. You don't want to get out there and run out of ammo.
Good luck!Leave a comment:

Yup, as L84CABO stated, -100 rounds for first timer/initial; Patrick will direct you what and where to shoot and it should be fun.
On my renewals, I still shot more than 100 rounds on my 4 guns.
My initial, I shot -150 rounds or more on my 3 guns with Bill Desy different shooting positions was actually fun.
Bring plenty of ammo since you already paid for the range, might as well shoot and practice.
