    Hi Guys, 2nd post here.

For purposes of introduction, former LEO, FWIW (SDPD, SD Community College PD). But I've been w/a big Wall Street firm for over 30 years, so now it's all about trying to make money rather than chasing crack dealers over fences, which I couldn't do now anyway, lol.

Just did my 2-year renewal a couple of days ago and for those unaware, once you've completed the course and all documentation, including the certificate of completion, is uploaded, you should e-mail the San Diego Sheriff's licensing division to let them know that everything is uploaded, completed and in good shape. I did that this morning and got a reply in less than an hour that a clerk had been assigned to my renewal. Apologies if this had been mentioned previously, as I didn't go back and look at all of the prior messages.

Also, I've seen a few asking about approved instructors. I strongly recommend James Murphy of PPFT (Personal Protection Firearms Training). James was a Federal Agent, San Diego Sheriff's investigator, U.S. Marine Corps machine gunner and I believe he's also been a bodyguard. He's in his 70s and still one of those guys you wouldn't want to mess with.

Not only is James a great guy, but he really knows his stuff. He's also very patient. While I had a marksman certification in my LEO days, frankly, I'm not nearly as good as I used to be. So James really helped me to hone my skills and techniques.

Here's a link to his Yelp site. Tell him I sent you (Brad).

I DID IT ALSO and got a closer newer date multiple times.

Mine was about 11 months total also. But I got it.

QUESTION ; anyone know how long to have a FOR report approved?

What Mission said. Check at least once a day. Checking will also not cost you the appointment you already made.

The guys at Discount Gun Mart on Morena are good. I mean as long as you don't have high expectations for the class in general. Most of it you probably already know. But they can certainly answer any questions you have and they move you through it in an orderly and efficient manner. Plus there's a pretty decent taco shop right across the street for lunchtime Noms.
