(Crossposted from a Sheriff Gore specific thread; if I keep doing updates, I'll probably post them here henceforth unless folks object.)

SDSO CCW Currently Issued 7801 as of 10/25/22 (overall Δ per day: +3.89; last ~6m Δ per day: +6.78)

Thats 2.36 per 1,000 residents for San Diego County.

By way of comparison, in 2019 San Diego was at 0.34, and Shasta was at 45.5. Among counties with comparable populations, in 2019 Orange County was at 3.73, Riverside at 1.24, and San Bernardino at 3.24.

Foototes: During late 2022 there were some fluctuations in the reported figures. The update of 24 Jun. also included an acknowledgement of NYSRPA v. Bruen and some related commentary. The update of 16 Jul. changed the number reported from "Current CCW Licenses Issued" to "CCW Licenses Active" and the figure dropped by about 10%. The update of 18 Jul. (only two days later) changed the language again, to "Total CCW Licenses Active" and the figure recovered about 5%. The update of 25 Aug. recovered about another 5%, returning the data point to roughly in line with the previous trend.

(CA county data sourced from https://web.archive.org/web/20210817...32198382.html; if you have more recent data, please post.)

Short gentleman, small older man possibly glasses? It was a private range correct and he did it in the main large room of the 2 buildings where you park.

I used him at that private range and he was great. Definitely using him for my renewal.

Just did my 2-year renewal a couple of days ago and for those unaware, once you've completed the course and all documentation, including the certificate of completion, is uploaded, you should e-mail the San Diego Sheriff's licensing division to let them know that everything is uploaded, completed and in good shape. I did that this morning and got a reply in less than an hour that a clerk had been assigned to my renewal. Apologies if this had been mentioned previously, as I didn't go back and look at all of the prior messages.

Also, I've seen a few asking about approved instructors. I strongly recommend James Murphy of PPFT (Personal Protection Firearms Training). James was a Federal Agent, San Diego Sheriff's investigator, U.S. Marine Corps machine gunner and I believe he's also been a bodyguard. He's in his 70s and still one of those guys you wouldn't want to mess with.

Not only is James a great guy, but he really knows his stuff. He's also very patient. While I had a marksman certification in my LEO days, frankly, I'm not nearly as good as I used to be. So James really helped me to hone my skills and techniques.

Here's a link to his Yelp site. Tell him I sent you (Brad).

Thanks for the suggestion, Question, is the range on site or at another location?

    Thanks

It's also a state requirement and wouldn't surprise me if it renders your permit null and void if the "powers that be" find out.

Not everything should be discussed on an open internet forum...that is monitored by law enforcement.

i have to agree with stockjock. many of us have been in a ccw class were some of the people attending had never even fired the weapon they were there to get licensed to carry.

Even a rusty stockjock probably has more skills than the vast majority of applicants.

What Mission said. Check at least once a day. Checking will also not cost you the appointment you already made.
