I am preparing for my renewal, my permit expires on July 23rd; also, all my utilities bills are paperless since I pay them online. Do they accept copies or originals of the bill?
When I originally uploaded one of my proof of resident docs on April 30 it was my most recent March statement for that bill. So when they finally reviewed my application in on May 4 they told me I needed th April statement.

So when I arrived for my appointment I just brought a copies of the bills I submitted along with one of the more recent ones I had since gotten. They took the more recent one to put into the file.

It seems to me that copies of the proof of residency were fine since I asked specifically about one of mine since I too am paperless for the most part.

So in short - my advise is to bring copies of everything you submitted online. But if you have more recent versions by the time you go in for your appointment bring those as well.

It was the Qualification Certificate that was made clear to me that I needed the original form with the wet signature from the instructor.

What exactly is my permit #?

The renewal application requires my permit#. I have 3 numbers on my permit, none of which are identified as a permit #

        "ORI" format = CA+7 digits
Local Agency Number Format = GP+5 digits
        CII# format = 9 digits

Does anybody know which number they want?

I believe Kate said she knew, but I don't think she disclosed the answer

Also, Do they do they send an investigator to your house for a residence verification for a renewal if your address has not changed? I travel on business, and it was shear luck I happened to be home in the time period between the investigator's visit and my appointment the first time around.

Yes I used the GP number when I renewed. No issues. I'm pretty sure if there is anything not quite right with your application they will help you along rather than boot you out of the system. No need to make a bigger deal of it than need be. I really get the feeling that the new system is a learning curve for them too and there is a lot of wiggle room here. They are more likely to help you through than boot you out over an incorrect entry.

I have no idea, but concur they will figure out any errors we make. And this one is on them, I think. It is crazy confusing. And, clearly a poor assumption that we know what all their silly acronyms are!

Anyway, the new credit card permit does not have an Local Agency number, so that is not it. (And, on my old format permit the Local Agency number is the same as my CII number anyway.) On the new permit, the ORI number is up in the top right next to "San Diego County Sheriff's Department" so I presume that is the SDCSD organizational identifier of some sort. So, that leaves the CII, which in the new version permit is just above my picture. So, I believe the CII is your permit number. That's my story and I am sticking to it!

And, it is completely possible that what I see on my re-issued permit does not match at all to what was on the old style permit.

Also, if you look back at the picture I posted of the new credit card permit, you will see what I mean about the locations of the only 2 numbers on the new permit.

                HTH,
                Katie

The info about fix a flat makes me think my suspicions were correct. I used the one that came standard with the car a while back and kept meaning to replace it so I got a name brand one at Walmart and was always too worried to put it in my trunk for some reason.

Got a call from the SD this morning. My new (initial) appointment is 1100 this Monday, 6/1. I was pleasantly surprised to get the call.

Since Gore opened-up on his GC (thanks in no small part to a real estate agent being violently attacked in L.A.) the SD has been overwhelmed with applications. IIRC, there are only 2 deputies assigned to the CCW dept. My last communication with the SD was letting me know that I just needed to come in for prints and a picture; and this is for an initial permit. I may be wrong, but that leads me to believe I'm approved and just need the photo and prints for the permit.

I'll advise if that was, in fact, the case.

Congrats. So they have your forms already through Permitium? Or is this your first appt based on the old system? In either case bring all your documentation - a copy of the app completed and uncompleted along with all your docs. You may get the "combined" 1st and 2nd appt and the go ahead to take your qualifier.

Keep us posted. This is all new ground for everyone.

Yes, I got a call, IIRC, sometime in late Feb/early Mar to upload everything to the Permitium site and then copy everything to bring it in. Apparently, the SD doesn't have the ability to transfer the Premitium info to their system so we have to bring in copies for them to keep. They also said as I'm well (8 weeks+) past my appointment, they would like my latest residency proof; utility bills, whatever. I am also bringing my latest car registration as it's dated March.

                        I sure will.

I went in to get a modification done to my permit today. They called me 2 weeks ago to schedule the appointment. It took about 35min from start to finish. It looks like they are doing about 4 appointments every 30min. I was a nosey bastard and saw a list of ppl with the times and they were in sets of 4 every 30min. Many of them were for renewals. Few were mods. It went pretty smooth. They check ur temp when u go in and require a mask and have most of the seats taped off

Do you think that includes Federal background checks? In the Navy (& FAA) I held a Top Secret clearance.
