    new to calguns

    hello all,

I just joined the site, seems like a lot of good info and good people here!

my family used to be into guns when i was younger. I remember shooting with my mom and dad when i was 5 or 6. my dad still has a nice collection of guns but has not shot anything since 96'.

I am interested in getting more educated and learning what i need to do in order to be legal!

I have had a .357 security six in my possesion since 93', it was a gift from my father. he bought it from a good friend of his and i still have the hand written recipt from him.

so, where do i start to become legal with my gun? as i understand it, i am breaking the law not having registration right?

            Welcome aboard.

Read up here and follow the links as needed:

Your fine and clear as a gun gifted from father to son does not require an FFL/Registration, however depending on the date your father bought the gun, he might have needed to use an FFL.

I think you're ok with the (lack of) registration. That was before the mandatory law. But, read up and make sure. Welcome.

CalGuns Network (CGN) is different from CalGuns Foundation (CGF). Both need our support. I have gold name because I support CGN; plus, I send $10 every two weeks to CGF automatically via online BillPay as described here.

Support CGF by shopping at Amazon!

Welcome to the forum. Check the date, I'm thinking 1991 was the year; but I'm sure you'll find the question asked and answered here already.
