I think you are missing the point. You claim to be a proud liberal and Democrat therefore by extension you agree with what the current Democrats are doing. It is in typical Democrat fashion that these laws are being introduced as it draws us closer to socialism. For example some people didnt have healthcare so the Democrats decided to make healthcare mandatory. This has been the way that the Left has operated for as long as i can remember. As a Democrat did you really not see this coming from your party one of these days? Personally i do not care were your loyalties lie but you cannot call yourself a liberal Democrat and a 2a supporter because in this current climate the two are mutually exclusive. "you cannot have it both ways" those are your words. It is the Democratic party who would like to take all guns away. There are no other parties attempting to confiscate or illegalize guns or take away any other constitutional rights. So if it is only the Democratic party which other party should we blame? Which party should we blame for the counties with "gunfree" zones that have staggering murder rates? This debate is nothing but political because it is in the realm of politics were our rights will be removed. Im not saying i agree with people insulting you personally but you cant expect people to agree with your supposed pro 2a stance if you vote for these monsters. As a mental health professional i would hope you see the narcissm and elitism and self entitled mentality of the current democratic party.

This is ridiculous...where can I read these proposed laws word for word? Punishing everyone because the actions of a few idiots is never the answer. Drunk people kill plenty of people with cars every year, are they going to make it illegal to own a car that has a cupholder?Comment

I don't expect people to agree with all of my political views as I don't agree with many of theirs. My best friend of 25 years is a fierce right wing ex-marine and we disagree whole heartedly on many issues but always converse with respect on the subjects. I could name a few huge points of disconnect in the right's logic and platforms but it does no good to stir that pot with strangers. I knew my position would be unpopular and I am fine with that. Like another gentleman stated there are issues which are closer to my heart dealing with civil liberties other than just gun ownership. I take full responsibility for the proposed laws that you all are certain I "knew" were coming. Sorry about all of it. Now move on to the next scapegoat . . .I think you are missing the point. You claim to be a proud liberal and Democrat therefore by extension you agree with what the current Democrats are doing. The communist democrat party will not listen. Only court action will prevail--if filed in the right county. The Senate President Moron, I mean Pro-tem, Darrell Slimeberg announced an extremely oppressive gun bill today
We need to call the slimebuckets and let them know that infringement of our rights is not acceptable! Remember, politicians only give a crap about being re-elected and only go with the flow that will get them re-elected. Call, e-mail and write the morons. Otherwise you can kiss gun rights in California goodbye!Comment

It's lame for people to think that this is not possible, cant happen or you will just simply move out of the State of CA. Get of the fence and make your voices heard. look what just recently happened in NY w/temp suspension, proposed new 2A violations across the country. People these problems are not going away antime soon.
.
PEOPLE NEED TO STOP RUNNING FROM THE THREATS OF THESE BOZOS AND OR JUST SIT BACK AND EXPECT OTHERS TO FIGHT FOR OUR 2A RIGHTS.sigpicComment

My first post here as well. VERY well said. Nothing but truth in that statement. I have emailed my reps at least 10 times each over the last month and a half. It takes nothing to do it and the more we do it the more we WILL be heard. I have the NRA on my face book and it is amazing how many people just put their hands in their pockets and say you are the NRA, you do something about this. The problem with that is that the NRA get so looked at as ONE not the hundreds of thousands they represent. We all need to do our part or we will lose our rights.First post here, but I guess this is a good place to start.
Regardless of how you feel about "if" this legislation will pass, you need to communicate with your elected officials. Sure, your single email may fall on deaf ears, but things happen when our representatives inboxes are overflowing with new concerned citizens' emails. It takes hardly any effort to do this, it will take much more effort to register your firearms, dispose of your legal high capacity magazines, jump through hoops to purchase ammunition, etc. Negativity and speculation is a deterrent to some people who would ordinarily jump into action for something like this.
You can move away, or curse California but thats the easy way out. This new desire to disarm Americans and uproot the Constitution will eventually catch up with you if you don't start fighting back now.Comment

There you go again, deciding how to deal with people that don't have the same view as you. This is exactly why we are in this mess. You are a liberal, but at least you appear to be honest.you're an angry dude and i feel bad for you . . . i believe that guys like you should probably wind up on a federal weapons ban list. unfortunately in politics we have no say in primaries for the most part so we are both presented with extreme candidates in many circumstances. we all do the best we can to follow our moral compass and some of us feel the need to be unkind and resort to name calling when we get frustrated (much like in pre-school). nevertheless, never let an angry man sway you from your calm foundation. i'm sorry you have to walk through the world like that and i'm also sorry people from my party are presenting such drastic and horrible proposals related to our firearms rights. i hope you see you fight is a little bigger than me. i really don't have the time to keep up with you fellas any longer so spew away . . . and enjoy.Comment

Uh yeah, when you go to the nraila page for my state senator I get someone like Mike Roth and someone else. Jose Medina or maybe he is an assemblyman. I have been sending out things lately but damn, I forgot the names already.People, you NEED to know who your politicians are.
Your *STATE* Senators are NOT Diane Feinstein and Barbara Boxer. They are your US Senators.
Your STATE Senators are the ones who need to hear from you on this issue. They are the ones who represent you in the California State Legislature.
I believe that boxer and feinstein only pop up for federal stuff as senators.
Oh yeah and it helps to use CLEAN paper and envelopes when you actually MAIL them stuff. If you use old dusty stuff that was sitting around, they will send cars to your house. So lesson learned is to always use clean envelopes... I mailed off 14 letters on Friday and I expect to prolly do about another 12+ this week...Last edited by stilly; 02-10-2013, 11:30 PM.7 Billion people on the planet. They aint ALL gonna astronauts. Come on now, you didn't actually think they'd let us keep our "assault bullets". Man, i'm a SoCalifornian for life (because of the perfect weather) but these representatives need to go - the hard way. Don't they have neighbors? Neighbors with anger and baseball bats?

Despite the ban on military use, hollow-point bullets are one of the most common types of civilian and police ammunition,[citation needed] due largely to the reduced risk of bystanders being hit by over-penetrating or ricocheted bullets, and the increased speed of incapacitation.

Remember, we live in the state which banned glowsticks to prevent drug use at raves. Then they tried to ban rave music altogether(!) I say we introduce a bill which requires a politician to have some kind of official training, military or LE, to qualify for even thinking about writing an opinion on gun laws. F 'em all! I got my tactical pitchfork sharpened in case they take everything else.Last edited by [Variable]; 02-11-2013, 11:17 AM.Patience and fortitude conquer all things. -Ralph Waldo EmersonComment

Its not a de-facto ban on handguns. You can still have detachable mags with 10 rounds as you do now, just no pistol grip etc. These guys are trying to get tricky on us. We can't let them beat us down. What is at stake is just too important.
I think the "no detachable mags" can't stand up in court, because it is a de-facto ban on handguns, and we already know how the court ruled in D.C.
Also, we need to make the argument that such proposals disproportionately affect the poor in high crime areas by making self-defense prohibitively costly for them. In addition, if such areas are populated by minorities, such policies are also racist. You could also argue that it is actually a "war on women" as they will be less able to defend themselves, especially if they are poor.
You have to take their values and use them against them...
Regardless, this is all some Nazi level BS...Comment

Please send a link to the legislation regarding hollow point ammo and liability insurance? I search the california legislation and could not find anything.
