Web site issues

The site is up and down on a daily basis. Most of the time it's agonizingly slow.
Is there going to be a fix?

Sometimes it's like it used to be and just as often it's becoming a real test of patience to use. I understand the nuances involved but truthfully, I don't use the site much as it becomes fairly annoying.

calguns has been extremely slow recently. It takes around 30 seconds to load each thing I do. Log in takes 30 seconds. Then I have to click this thread in order for it to show me that im logged in and wait 30 seconds to load. then another 30 seconds for each thing i do. It is not a wifi issue, wifi is superfast and everything else loads instantly except calguns.

I could fix these issues almost overnight. There are two major issues: the host server is STILL underpowered to handle the mysql DB load. The mysql character set issue has nothing to do with DB performance. The second issue is the outdated VBulletin version which is now a serious security threat to all users. It needs to be migrated to a current version or to another modern platform like Xenforo. Kes either doesn't have the time, desire, skills, or resources (one or several of those) to fix it permanently. He mentioned earlier that he was going through some family stuff, which everyone can understand. I'd offer to buy the site and take care of it properly (I have the means and skills), but I doubt that is in the cards.

It takes minutes and multiple attempts and refreshes to get anything to load currently!

When the server migration first occurred, I do not recall these serious performance issues having existed. Only the special character question mark replacement bug and the post edit problems immediately appeared.

I would think the advertisers have got to be unhappy as well. Its an unfortunate situation but its not my site so....I just hope the computer geeks get a handle on this.

I find that usually, refreshing the page or restarting the browser fixes this issue.
