If the site cannot adjust performance to meet basic expectations of functionality for the larger public it will continue to die. This isn't something I want, but it is the truth. Site traffic continues to decrease. For the second or third year in a row traffic at the normally busiest time for this forum has had a muted surge if any. The new user funnel is continuing to suffer increasing damage, user retention continues to be negatively impacted, and acaligunner seems to be singlehandedly trying to prop up user engagement (kudos to him btw).

Yes - you're right, I did.
You misunderstood I think. If you try to access the site when it is down, it is down. If you try to access it when it is up, it is up. If the site goes down more often around certain times of day, and those happen to be times when you would usually log on, then you will perceive things one way. If you happen to log on at times when it is more likely to be up, then you will perceive things another way. The user's behavior has not influenced the site availability, but it has influenced the user's experience and perceptions.
In times past, there were several people blaming lag or gateway issues on users themselves, their faulty equipment, or internet speed, and that's what I thought to which you were alluding - read it too fast.
But reading it again, now I see your point how as to an individual's access schedule could give the impression it's always down if in fact Calguns is down for repairs or goes rogue at those same times each day they coincidentally repeatedly try to log on.
I jumped the Calgun on that. My mistake.

If some level of government had that information, what would they do with it? How would having that info benefit public safety? How would it benefit law enforcement?👍 1Comment

You seem to be the only person that has this problem.this is the only site I know that is consistently iffty-50 as to whether it works. Its a real mystery. AFAIK its not "down for all users" because I'm not seeing any big "Wow, we all back now" messages.
I bet some nerds would be interested in seeing WTF is going on "under the hood".
(And would be a blessing, if only that were true.)

504 errors and such.... Just started spending time elsewhere.... I hope the site can be saved.....Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED
Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)
Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET
Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

It seems to be getting worse lately, not better."Show me a young conservative and I'll show you a man without a heart. Show me an old liberal and I'll show you a man without a brain." - Sir Winston Churchill
"I would remind you that extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice! And let me remind you also that moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue!" - Senator Barry Goldwater😞 1Comment
