WADR to FFL's, to be able to charge more than $35 max would hurt the market and would also subject them to license forfeiture pursuant to the Penal Code. The $10 they earn is not profitable, but remember they have a seller in a PPT who's just received hundreds/thousands of dollars and they should sell the guy another firearm then and there. Get the seller while the gettins' good!

As we've addressed the fees, and being aware of competitor's pricing and fee structures, product availability, etc., as well of being very aware internally of what our cost/margin/fee structure is and how we choose to manage those, we'll address your question about locks. Can you explain what these $5 dealer fees are for? Also why collect the max of $10 on PPT? It's takes less than 10 mins to do a PPT and you take full advantage of dealer fees for what?
And what's up with you making customers buy a $5 cheap lock for PPTs when most customers have a collection of locks at home? The funny thing is you don't forget the $5 lock fee but you forget to give out the lock when customers come in for pickup.
May I suggest you shop your LGS and update your dealer fees policy?
If a firearm comes with an approved lock and/or the customer brings in an approved lock and receipt and/or the firearm being transferred is exempt from a lock requirement (i.e. long guns where in the CA safe affidavit applies), then the customer will not be required to purchase a lock.
If you think a purchase or PPT you're making does not require that you purchase one, let us know. Likewise if you needed to purchase a lock and didn't receive it, let us know that, too.Last edited by Turner's Outdoorsman; 12-24-2015, 5:46 AM.sigpic

Agreed that oftentimes the seller is looking for a way to spend his new gains and we can help them do that. We handle more PPT's in the course of the year than new guns sold by some shops so the additional foot traffic is much appreciated. While there will always be some frequent PPT sellers who seem to be very much "in the business" of selling guns (and just short of needing their own FFL, CFD, etc.), most folks are great gun guys just horse trading for the fun of buying, trying, upgrading, selling and do it all over again.WADR to FFL's, to be able to charge more than $35 max would hurt the market and would also subject them to license forfeiture pursuant to the Penal Code. The $10 they earn is not profitable, but remember they have a seller in a PPT who's just received hundreds/thousands of dollars and they should sell the guy another firearm then and there. My take on it is the $5 is cheesy and an annoyance when buying a gun from a dealers stock. Is it a deal breaker? No but it is one small factor in figuring where I want to shop at. Many CGNers claim Turners is the only one to do this. This is untrue.
I believe as one example Gunslingers charges $35. Grant Boys I also believe charged more than $25 especially when buying guns taken in on consignment. PPT is a separate issue but I did know a FFL that charged less for LE doing a PPT. I also did a PPT with the employee of an FFL recently they only charged me $25.Comment

Sheesh! People complaining that Turners charges five bucks for processing!
The average DROS takes about 20-30 minutes. $25 goes to the state and a measly 5 bucks to Turners. With wages, insurance, payroll tax, business upkeep, etc., Turners probably calculates each employee should sell $75/hour per merch/services just to break even (and that's a conservative number). I know 25+ years ago when I had a print shop, burn rate for a skilled pressman was $75/hr and a counter person was $50/hr (and its now 25 years later).
...and people are complaining about 5 bucks. B*tch to those in Sacramento you elected (or didn't elect) to office. As a businessman, I understand Turner's position. If I was blue collar, my thinking might be different..
