    X-Roads

Well, let's just say I took one for the team! While the wife was as work downtown Ventura, I decided to take a stroll to the fair grounds. Saved the parking fee, and the little text saved the $1 at the gate.

Unless you ABSOLUTLY need something that you know is there i.e. Jerky and trinkets. Don't bother going. Reminds me of the roadrunner shows that are no longer.

    Good luck!

We must have been at different shows.

Went today about noon or so and there were actually lines to get in. Haven't seen a show this packed in Ventura, well, ever. Spent about 3 hours there, walking slow due to a broken leg, and made the rounds. Walked off with some .556 from LAX and some other various brick-a-brack.

When I left at ~3 wish there were still lines to get in and the crowd hadn't slacked. I assume some of this is because of the SB tomorrow but it was nice to see a good sized crowd and some interesting stuff. I was looking particularly for some complete uppers to go with the 2 lowers I need to mill. Some prices were WAAAAAY out there but I did see some decent stuff in the $300 range that I may grab at th next show in April, as long as prices stay consistent with what I can find on line.

Did see something a bit different, or maybe I just missed it at other shows. Some sellers now advertising "complete" AR build packages, 80% lower, complete upper and everything else needed to do a full CA legal build including templates for about $500. Advertised as "Buy an AR-15 and walk out with it today".

Show BLEW. One of the worst I've ever been to. Going just capped off a real sucky day. I even forgot my $1 off coupon.

Let me rush back and get some of those bargain $45 Armscor 22 bricks and pay $17 for the privilege of doing so. The vibrating back massage people showed up but I did not see the pillows.

I did see the ammo prices start to normalize. I would buy .40 from LAX for $96 per 500 since sandy hook it was up to $120 per 500, yesterday it was $98.

I found if you want to skip the parking you can park on garden st under the bridge then it's about a 200 yard walk to the ticket booth.

I know crossroads have been 150% better then this show was. I was looking to by a shot gun (new) and there was not one to be found. Even the vendors like island view had more ammo cans then guns. I'm sure it's because of the record sales. Dzuros had rifles from $5k - $18k if some one was jonesin'. I just think in my opinion that was the worst x-roads I've ever been too.

It probably was the worst crossroads Ventura show I have been to. Heck even at last Roadrunner I attended I found a couple of things. Actually I don't tend to like the majority of people at gun shows except for the fact they also may like guns. Of course there is exceptions and vendors I do like and have a working relationship with.

But there are others I despise beyond belief. Plus I don't like the BO factor. And here is a tip, avoid gun show bathrooms unless going immediately when show opens and if going during flu and cold season it is a real good way to pick one up like in any venue where you are in close contact with a group of people.

I do the free parking and walk thing at some shows but it is a bad idea for me because if I pick up something heavy at show it is a long walk back.

The Pillow and sheet folks were there, but the displays of each were smaller than I have seen in the past.
