    private/public land to shoot on?

Does anyone know if there is any public land to go shooting on in Ventura? I really hate the prices at Island View Enterprises and all the rules at Shooters paradise.

Alternatively, does anyone know someone that knows someone in Somis or something that I could get in touch with about shooting on their land. I just moved back to California from an extended stay elsewhere and would love to get my guns out of the safe.

Island view has a deal going right now. Check out their facebook. $5 for all day. From what I understand, Las Padres is open to shooting until they close if for fire season. Dont take my word for it though.

There's a public shooting range in the Santa Barbara mountains called the "Glass Factory" but I'm not sure if it's open or closed now due to fire season.

Thanks for the replies, I will try and google some of these places and see if I can get a good answer on any of these locations.

Their facebook page says they are closed between June-November for fire season; however, Google maps says "closed permanently" not really sure if they are open or closed.

Their facebook also seems to indicate that there is a lot of not good shooting practices going on and tons of trash being left behind.

Glass Factory is still open, but will close at some point within the next couple of months for seasonal fire reasons.

This http://www.dock.net/ovgc/ is up on Rose Valley off the 33. Many times I am the only person there. Most I have seen during the week is 5 or so. Relatively inexpensive to become a member, except for the drive up the hill. There is a public shoot day once a month. $10 for the shoot.
May I always be the type of person my dog thinks I am

Also all of their events (essentially both days of every weekend) are open to the public $10 unless otherwise noted. Once a month on Saturday range is closed, be sure to check the schedule before you drive up, long drive to find a closed range.

I hear we are able to shoot in Callegas Creek as long as you're 500' from the road and shooting into the creek bed. I hope to find more places like that. I personally am not a fan of "shooting ranges."

It runs through the farm fields south of Hueneme road and into Point Mugu.
