Unfortunately they didn't have enough respect to wait for me and began firing before i was out of the way. The problem is it's too crowded there. If you want to be able to have fun and stay safe, drive further away from town or shoot at a range.
Just out of curiosity were you at the entrance or around the hill? Seems much quieter on the other side, less wannabe thugs, and whatnot.

You need to be careful everywhere there, whether it's at the entrance or over the hill. Be safe, especially if you are new to shooting, always communicate with fellow shooters and know your backstop. I almost got blasted a few weeks ago b/c people were trap shooting while we were out setting up targets, their clays swung right and they took shots in our direction. Scary as ****. Lastly, if you do go, always take out more trash than you brought in.

I drove in about a half mile.

Its the dirt road on the left right after the gun club. You'll see a large dirt parking area

I'm amazed to hear that anyone is still considering this place after reading the post about the safety issues.

I've almost completely written off even regulated public ranges because of the actions of less experienced/educated shooters that I've encountered.

Gettin' poked by a bullet is quite low on my list of desirable experiences.

If the road is dry, you can probably go up the hill no problem in a regular sedan. I tried going up when the hill was wet once. Once.

Just went here today and had a great shoot ....went in a car so went in about 160 yards or so. The people next to me were really safe and generous about cease fires, and they picked up all their trash...it was a bit messy but picked up all of my brass, steel, and hulls and everything else in my area ...as I only had a car that was fully loaded already. I did some unsafe people ...some guy pulled up about 100 yards passed me and shot across the trail into the hill while sitting in a chair...and a group pulled literally 15 yards off the trail and started shooting at a target 3 feet away ...we packed up luckily when these careless shooters came
