You will need a higher clearance vehicle, the road can get pretty chopped up and a rough, a truck should be fine. I like to go back around the mountain, seems like there are less idiots back there.

Bring trash bags to clean up after yourself.

There is a place to park at the entrance that would be fine for your car, but I think legally you need to be 100 yards from roads, so you would have to walk in a bit.

Do you have any friends going with you with trucks?

I took my Integra up the hill, but the dirt conditions may be too soft for a car. 4x4, SUV, or truck is recommended. Weekend shoots are crazy. Lots of people and good luck calling a cease fire to set up targets. Be safe, don't shoot the rocks, pick up after yourself.

dont set up anywhere near th giant mound of boulders. I was there a few weeks ago and a couple car loads of FOOLS set there targets all over the rocks and started blasting!! Um,,, can you say ricochet????

Range will be closed on April 27. Calguns is doing a range cleanup there. So you should have a nice clean place to shoot on the 28.

I was at Steele Peak last moth and filled 2 of these trash cans in 10 mins. One was filled with all tv parts, its ok to take stuff out there to shoot, but please pick up the crap guys. Lets all make it out to the clean up on April 27, theres a post where you can sign up on.

Your best bet is not to go there at all. If you really want to check it out take a bullet proof vest with you. I went there 1 time and will never go again. There's to many idiots out there. I waited for the people on either side of me to cease fire, while they went to set up targets I used that time to set up mine. Unfortunately they didn't have enough respect to wait for me and began firing before i was out of the way. The problem is it's too crowded there. If you want to be able to have fun and stay safe, drive further away from town or shoot at a range.
