Appleseed Shoot, Sacramento, Jan 17-18, 2009

Central California welcomes the Appleseed Marksmanship Clinic.
Come out for a whole weekend of rifle shooting instruction plus Revolutionary War living history, at Sacramento Valley Shooting Center this Jan 17-18, 2009.
    All event details here:

Bring yourself, your favorite rifle, plus friends and family. Kids, ladies, military, and elected officials pay range fees only, and receive free Appleseed instruction.

Spend all weekend running drills to improving your shooting.
    You'll discover:
    natural point of aim,
how to fire your shot by the numbers,
how to use and adjust your sights,
    how to use a sling,
how to take accurate shots from field positions. (any hunters out there?)

Bring along a sack lunch, and hear of the amazing bravery and sacrifices of our ancestors who witnessed the start of the Revolutionary War.

A weekend of marksmanship and heritage you'll want to share with your kids and friends.

Plan on up to 250 rounds per person per day. 22 rimfire rifles are great choices, especially if you rig them up with a 1 1/4 inch wide sling (like a Garand sling) and aperture sights. Centerfire rifles are ok too, so are scopes. Bring what you have and we'll go from there. Most of the shooting is at 25 meters.
    "Hey, that's not very far!"
Well, the targets are scaled down to simulate an Army target placed up to 400 meters away. And that, I assure you, is quite challenging at 25m.

Bring a shooting mat or carpet, elbow pads or jacket because some of the shooting is from the prone.

Well now there's two... see how fast the program is expanding?
Thanks for posting about the shoot, PF. I hope you & friends, family can make the shoot.

Folks, no magnet-attracting bullets at this range.

That is incorrect. Sac Valley has NO restrictions on ammo so long as it's legal in CA, with the exception of no FMJ on the steel silhouette range.

Man just my luck. I have a Friends of the NRA conference that weekend. Oh well, seems like a great program you guys have going. I think this is a great thing. Next time around I will do my best to be there.

PF has the right word, folks. I confirmed with the range today that, for the Appleseed portion of the shoot,
it's OK to use any ammo you choose that's CA legal, whether it's magnet attracting or not.

The Appleseed shoot will be on paper, though, no silhs.
And as has been said, range policy says no FMJ on metallic silhouette targets.

So bring your favorite ammo and come out!

              just signed up thanks

I dunno, I've never been much for guns. I mean, sure, we have the usual gun by the door, another near the TV, one in the kitchen, and another in the bedroom...and several others laying around. For the most part though, we keep our home free of guns. We are peace loving folks.
