I basically stopped using hodge when someone walked out 300 yards in front of my 30.06 scope while I was shooting. One of the worst feelings I have ever had. Haven't really been back since. If I drive down the 15 and see even one car at hodge (always do for the last year), I keep driving. Usually end up north of I40.

Place is full of irresponsible gun owners and I'm done with it. Sucks for me, I'm 25 min away.


If y'all really are serious id donate my trailer, ezup, and a shovel/rake. Not gonna touch much with my hands though. Last thing I need is a shard of glass in ma shootin hand!

Apparently, a good portion of it is. Last time I was there, a guy and his wife(?) stopped by our camp asking for directions. They had apparently been left a small plot of land by her relative, and asked me if I knew where some address on Hodge road was. I almost laughed at the notion of an address out there, but he produced a map with many plots sectioned off and had one marked that was theirs. Looks like a lot of them are at the northern end of Hodge, where it meets National Trails. I've yet to see anything marked off as private on southwest side of the road, though.

I'll keep an eye on this thread, if a cleanup is setup and I can make it I'll surely be in if I'm available.

Any progress on this? I was out there this last weekend, it is lookng horrible. There needs to be a trash, wood/burnable, steel, aluminum volunteer. I am up for it if a clean up happens. I could probably recruit a few others with trucks and maybe get some rolloffs. It will take some time, so i need lead time...a couple of weeks.

I live a few exits down and have heard nothing about it, but also haven't been out there in a month or so.

Not sure where you heard that rumor. It's still open with plenty of shooters. I go there almost weekly.

More then 10 years pass and there is still trash. I recently picked up shooting and frequent hodge road, the amount of litter I see is horrible and I don't think this clean up ever left the forum but id be willing to participate if others wanted to make a day of it.

Just went Sunday and filled up an extra trash bag. It's frustrating and almost hopeless. This is a convenient, "free" alternative... it's only a matter of time before squatters and trash shut it down.
