Bonetti Road Clean up - July

I think we did Bonetti last April. Let me say I am appalled at the number of slobs and lazy people that are in the shooting sport. There are at least 25 spots to shoot along Bonetti Road. Last April we cleaned them of the shot up TVs, monitors, targets, Propane bottles, trash etc.

Today our group was up there and the entire road was once again, trashed to hell. What is wrong with US!? 20 spots all trashed that tells me some of "US" are freeking slobs.

One spot I picked up FOURTY pounds of shot gun hulls. Do you people thing the trash fairy picks YOUR trash up? Our litter bug must be in the HVAC biz because they left behind 8 shot up cans of refrigerant as well as shot up expanding foam cans.

People keep shooting trees. Folks this is a HUGE fine and I hope that those of you that do that get caught.

At the rate US shooters are going I cannot blame the USFS for shutting the whole road down.

I know some will say, oh, its only a few bad apples. BS, 20 spots ALL trashed to hell. You dumb ***** even burn pallets in the open and toss glass into the fire. Nice.

One spot, our fellow shooter drinks Captain Morgan, in glass bottles I might add because there were at least 20 1.75 L bottles shot to hell just left in the road.

Maybe we need to start self policing the area. Our group puts up signs asking for help, but WE shooters shoot them as well.

I'm down for a cleanup meetup if you want to organize it. I'm up there shooting every other weekend usually.

Thank you for stepping up and cleaning up. I always take out more trash than I create when I shoot up there. Pisses me off that those crapclowns don't clean up their own mess.

The local gun club, El Dorado Gun Club organizes monthly cleanups in the Summer months. They provide trash bags, lunch and water.

I will announce the next one in this post.

Yes always post this info before hand. The March cleanup was posted in calguns, and got at least 8 calgunners out there to assist in cleanup efforts.

And the entire 5 miles of shooting areas was completely trashed over again!

I am on vacation with the family in early August but if it gets scheduled I will do everything I can to get out there. I will also bring my 8 year old son. Service to others is always a good life lesson.

I used to always shoot where all the obvious spots are on the road. I would spend 30-45 minutes cleaning up hillsides just to make it easier to move around and set up targets. My goal was to always pack out at least two full trash bags of garbage at a minimum every time I went.

The last couple years I found my own little place up there. I go up at least once a month when Mormon Emigrant Trail is still open for an overnighter. That thunderstorm two Fridays ago was pretty cool. Note the trash bag tied off to the tailgate. That's right, I pack out what I pack in.

You can see the wind whipping the fire a little as the clouds rolled in. I slept like a baby that night with the thunder rolling and the sound of rain on my tent. I'm thinking of going back up again to camp out Friday night and shoot all day Saturday. The area has a nice logging cutout from years back so I set up gongs 100 yards out when I shoot. Since I shoot steel I have no target trash to recover, I'm damn sure not leaving my gongs behind.

You gotta be willing to explore to find such pristine places.

We are polling for a date acceptable to everyone. I am out due to family and work issues. Steve supplies NRA sandwiches and water. Be prepared to be AMAZED at how much TRASH we SHOOTER leave behind.
