i don't really see where is the problem. If I shaved my legs and had a pair of boobs, just about everywhere would be female friendly

Target Masters West(AKA "Ghetto Guns")near the police station in Milpitas (the armpit of the SF Bay Area) is woman owned, or at least the "boss" is a woman, and they are famous(infamous) for catering to newbie shooters and even renting them guns for "first time ever" at their onsite pistol range.

I would say they are female friendly and have some woman on staff besides the boss.

If any of the clerks seem clueless or not helpful, well, they are like that to both men and women (but they seem fine as long as you aren't asking about the finer points of guns they don't stock or something).

TMW tends to have Bay Area's rock bottom prices, and a good selection of popular guns.

Oaktree Gun Club in Santa Clarita has a great store with good prices.
It is run by sisters who are professional and have numerous women employees. They are a great bunch of folks who (in my opinion) run one of the best gun ranges in the area.

My recommendation is home based FFLs, in So Cal, Redfield Armory in Orange County(Sean) and EBR(Mike and Michelle) in Thousand Oaks. Whether you are a serious pistolero or a newbie who needs handholding, they will treat you with respect and will not rush or pressure you. I haven't heard one single complaint from all the people I've sent to them.

Gunther Guns in Carlsbad. It's the cleanest, nicest gun store I've ever seen. Owned by a woman, you will get all the hand holding a girl needs.

                  hand holding?
I thought we were talking about being able to get questions answered and a purchase made w/o being "talked down to" and or an even worse "just trust me, little woman/girl" from a male behind the counter whether owner or employee.....

If a person needs handholding, as in for someone to explain how things works, etc. Jesus some people are so sensitive!

                      Angelina,

If you ever want to go gun shopping and have some fun, let me know. I'll go with you (as long as the store doesn't know me) and pretend that you are helping me pick out my first gun. It would be interesting to see what kind of reaction we get from idiot sales people who think it's OK to ignore women in a gun store.

perhaps true, HPBrowning: however, this is the Ladies Forum and a woman is asking a question about a female friendly gun store. we come into the LF to avoid the testosterone laded responses and accusations of being "so sensitive" as well and are rather protective of preserving it.

FWIW, Markley's in Watsonville has a gal behind the counter - she sold me my lastest pistol, and she knows her stuff.

The need for this thread is a prime reason why the RKBA does not have the social acceptance it should. As a minority gun owner who's gotten the "Ur soooo a straw purchaser!" look and attitude from gun shop staff, I know something of the OPs dilemma.

One wonders how many iPhones Apple would sell if their staff said to half their customers " hey lady, you can't handle a 128 GB cell phone. Here's a 16 GB iPod touch...."

                              MZ, +1.

HPBrowning, this IS the Women's Forum and has different rules (see sticky). http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=120566

That said, newbies DO need more support, both from their shooting mentors/instructors and LGS, regardless of whether they are men or women. Respectful guidance is always a good thing. And I think that's what Angelina was asking for, in the first place.

And hurrah for GardoneVT ! The Apple comment was spot-on. Welcome to the Women's Forum !

I don't see anything here that singles out one gender for needing handholding. In fact, Micheal of EBR Works use to handhold a lot of male shooters when he was renting guns out at Angeles.
